They kill because they (mistakenly) think that God wants them to kill. Keep in mind these terrorist are not following the Torah or the Bible. A care full analysis into any scripture will tell you god orders to kill only when injustice prevails in the land so it is a call for justice.
Some take the ruling between just and unjust to their hands this is when things go wrong (like bush ordering invasions)
God can kill but you don't want him to start cause he kills by the numbers read of the Tsunami strike in south east Asia

Religious terrorists dont exist, but instead religious extremists do. I am sure you are refering to people of the religion of Islam. Islam religion goes against many of the American beliefs. Not all of the people who are devout Islamists are out to kill those who dont belive in the same things they do. If you think about it the Christian Crusades was nearly the same thing. Yes God can kill people but he chooses to do it through more discreet methods such as car crashes and natural death.

Religious terrorists follow what they believe to be their God(s) and are mentally distorting reality concepts. Remembering the story of Noah, it rained 40 day and 40 nights as God destroyed all living creates except for two of each creature, male and female. God is all mighty and I suspect very tolorant of His children but can do what He wants.

Because in most religious texts there are specific passage (that mostly refer to older wars) in which the righteous defend their land and expel the invaders. This stories are religion enhanced legends (although in almost every case the event was real).
It is not a hard jump to then interpret these passages literally and explain the use of force as approved by god to expel the "evil."

In the Old Testament, God allowed that people kill others who oppose Him. For instance if a village prayed to a false god, God would allow a army like say um Israel to destroy them.
However, times changed. When Jesus entered this world, God changed certain things and Jesus told of these things. Now it is up to God to decide such things.
People who murder without great reason, and when I say great I mean in serious cases of self-defence, are under the influence and wear the blindfold of Satan's works.
If only they could see what God wants! Pray for their salvation and pray they wake up and see Truth.

Relitious terrorist believe that they are the "hands" of God, the tools with which God dispenses his justice. Much in the same way President Bush believes that God "told" him to become President. See what happens when the religious appose one another?

The terrorists belief is in a political agenda, not in a spiritual one. If they were living a Godly life, then they would know killing is forbidden especially the killing of innocents.

It is not possible for Muslims to make Peace with the non-Muslims world.
Non-Muslims are to covert or be killed.
The Goal is world domination.
Then go back to the Stone Age.
Christians and Jews speak monkey and pig.
Therefore no communication is possible.
Christians and Jews believe in one God, Muslims believe in a total different concept for there gods.

Book of Matthew says that there will come a day when misguided men will kill someone and think they are performing a service to God.
These men have been lied to and they feel and believe it.
