changing the litter box once a week and scooping every day will help. However it might be the kind of food he or she is eating. The cheaper stuff has ingrediants they can't digest so their poo will smell stronger. I have ten and they eat Nutro for indoor cats. It's a little more expensive, but it has a higher nutritional value so they don't eat as much, making it cheaper in the long run. Sinbad had terrible smelling gas with the cheap food. I'd rub his belly and the pain would peel. With Nutro, he no longer has the problem.

Ah...what are you feeding them? If you are feeding them canned food (like Purina, Wiskers, etc) and/or dry food bought at the chain grocery stores, those types of food are not good quality foods so that is why it smells.
I have been feeding my cats Science Diet and their poop does not smell. Plus it is hard and healthy.
So you need to change what you are feeding them, and use a much better higher quality like Science Diet. Also some brands of cat litter vary in their odor control. I had found both Scoop Away and Swheat to be wonderful.
Actually I prefer Swheat because it is all 100% natural. Cats need to lick their paws, and it is so not healthy for them to lick and swallow man-made, unnatural cat litter. That stuff will expand when filled with liquid and may clog in their intestines.
Swheat is awesome! I've been using it for a year, and it has great odor control. Plus no worries if they swallow that stuff!

Its poop, it is suppose to smell bad, imagine if poop smells good or does not have a smell at all, people would be stepping on them all the time, it is designed by nature to smell bad for people to be alerted and take a look and not stepping on it.

Because of the high protein content of their food.
Try a cat food made for indoor cats it does help cut down on the odor.

If you remove it everday from the litter box it will not be as bad. The longer poo sits out the worse it smells. So please clean your litter box everyday your cat will thank you for it..

my cat's poop isn't that bad. Only when I change the little it stinks, but it doesn't stink until I stir it up in cleaning it.
