As a teacher of history, I feel that discussion of the Bible is best reserved to my class and not to science classes. Science teachers should teach what science has revealed about our origins; arguments based on written documents (like the Bible) or oral histories should be addressed in history classrooms.
Please don't get me wrong; I believe it is critical for schoolchildren to be exposed to the stories and teachings of the Bible. I say this not because I wish to indoctrinate my youths or convert them all to my brand of Christianity; I say this because it is imperative that one have knowledge of the Bible in order to possess a well-rounded education and so that one can understand the multitude of references made to the Bible in everyday affairs - you can't be a culturally literate American if you don't know the great stories of the Bible, for example.

It isn't wrong. In fact, it's constitutionally protected!
There is no law prohibiting nor preventing nor discouraging schools to teach creation or anything else from the bible. Seperation of church and state means that such laws cannot exist.
The reason that most schools don't teach from the bible is because they're afraid of the inevitable lawsuits from groups like the ACLU even though they'd win!
Evolution certainly is NOT a proven fact nor is it even science! Evolution is a RELIGION! It was even proven WRONG over 60 years ago, but schools won't take it out of the textbooks because the only other option is Creation!

Even tho i respect the bible and all its teachings, i think it's a good ideal to teach what we believe is true. Now I'm not saying that the bible is bad and are kids should not learn any thing about it. Its just that we have Church's to do that.
I think its wrong to force are kids to learn something about a religion instead of the truth.
Evolution is the only clue we have about how we became what we are today, thus i think its ideal to teach about evolution then the book of are ancestors.

Instead of evolution? No, because evolution belongs in science and the Bible has nothing to do with science. But as a voluntary course such as religion? Sure, as long as they're teaching all other religions as well.

No, it would not upset me. technological understanding could study in the technological understanding college room, and the belief of evolution falls into the class of "technological understanding." The Bible, at the same time as an significant sacred text fabric, shouldn't study in public faculties, till different sacred texts are given equivalent billing, perhaps in a comparative religions classification.

How about teaching the Torah instead of the bible? Or the Upanishads? How about Mein Kampf or "The Basketball Diaries"?
If you don't want other people's religion rammed down your throat, don't be a hypochristian and try and do it yourself.
Fairy tales belong in Sunday schools, not public schools.

I have absolutely no problem with the teaching of Creationism in schools--as long as it's in universities, in the religious studies department, where it belongs.
"Instead of evolution"...absolutely not. What an absurd idea. It's a science class; it ought to be reserved for teaching science.

The law has set up a division of Church & State, and to my way of thinking, schools, colleges etc... are "State" so the bible has no business being taught there whatsoever!!!!!
The exception, would be religious schools.
By the way, I am a Jayhawker, so this is a particularly touchy subject with me, seeing as how we have such dim-witted government officials here, YEA, those same IDJUTS, that allowed the idea of creationism to be taught in our schools.

I don't think religion should be taught in school because there are so many different religions today. I do feel, however, there should be a class on morality. This way children could still learn the values common in various religions without having a label and without favoring a religion.
