First thank you mpltmiller, we as a Country owe you a huge debt for the time, danger and just general horribleness that I can't even imagine, and I mean that with all my heart. My dad was an American pilot in WWII; He earned a purple Heart and the Silver Star Medal. My guess is what you're seeing is a generation who doesn't realize the REAL value in these "tokens", because they are not tokens, they are symbols of gratitude and freedom and life
that we bestow on our heroes. I would find it hard to believe that someone who was bestowed such an honor would go on Ebay for a couple of bucks. So it's either knockoffs or some poor ignorant, mentally challenged fool who inherited them or got them through illegal ways

The way our country takes care of its soilders after it has no current use for them dosnt make me wonder why someone would sell their medal If. you had just graduated in 2000 and had to leave right after 9/11 and came back to this economy with a leg or something missing and no college education what would you do with a medal the dam medal isnt going to get your leg back or pay your bills so yes I would sell it in my opinion everyone that got a medal in iraq within the last 2 years dosnt deserve it because they also didnt deserve to be there in the first place America needs to put the binoculars down and take a look at whats right around them rather than stare across the field at other countries. True its worse there but why are we messing with them when the middle class is steadly sinking in to lower class. Here we are trying to setup someone else's government when ours cant even handle a natural disater Bush needs to stop playin Captin SavAhoe and play Captin SaveMyOwnAss

Let me put it this way.

I have my medals, if you want to buy the very same medals knock your socks off.

I am no war hero but i have earned to right to wear a piece of tin or two. If someone would feel the need to buy medals off of the Internet so what. It's not the medal, it's the action. When you wear a medal it means very little. But when you wear that medal and carry yourself with pride..well that is a whole diffrent story.

I have got a few of my medals off of the Internet. Because i needed something diffrent ( Mini's and tie tacks and the like.) but if you really want to buy a medal that you never earned..go ahead. Spend your money and stimulate the economy.

When a fool is found with medals he has never earned then he or she shows themselves for what they are.

How else would I get extras?

I know lots of guys buy extras for a display case, and one to wear so they can leave the one the Army gives them in the box it came in (it looks nice)

Their are allot of fake hero's out their who just got the medal and make up a story but their is not much you can do. the only medal it is illegal to buy or sell is the Medal of Honor.

If you think you know someone with the Medal of Honor look them up on line. Their are no classified Medal of Honor citations so If you don't find it they are lying.

My Father got shot in the neck fighting for our country. He received a purple heart and a bronze star. I get sick thinking someone could buy these medals.

You see, in the United States, you can buy any medal except for the congressional medal of honor. Now, usually when people buy it, its for things like plays and movies. Though there are some people who use it to impress girls (like they did in Wedding Crashers) which is totally not right.

I agree.

I cannot speak for the soldiers or their families. Everyone has their personal struggles and problems to deal with, and ultimately, we all need money to live.

I think about Vietnam veterans whose service was never adequately rewarded due to people like Jane Fonda and John Kerry who gladly jumped in front of cameras for personal gain, and denounced the proud sacrifice of a generation of Americans, and personally led to the loss of the war.

That is a fate that we cannot allow our proud veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to endure.

It bothers me a great deal that others plan to profit from the sacrifice of these great men and women. And it bothers me that our brave soldiers need to pawn their medals to survive.

I myself am NOT impressed by a medal on a person's chest. I'm impressed by the person behind the medal and what he or she did.

It's not the medal itself that is so valuable, it's the right to wear it.
