Yes. Unchecked aggression is dangerous. You are no longer pack leader. You need a different trainer if one was working with you before this. Both breeds are large, headstrong (some say stubborn) dogs...the alpha dog challenge needs dealt with immediately. DO NOT let both together until they learn you are boss again. Get someone to help you and read more on dog behavior. So many let dogs get away with dominance things and until they bite or challenge or get out of control it's funny. It's NOT funny especially with large breeds.

You can be the alpha, but it sounds like you never have been yet. You need to work with a better trainer. One that understands the way dogs think and can help you all. The problem is not entirely the dog. Part of it is your own behavior. The dogs do NOT think they are human. They think YOU are a funny looking dog. For the time being at least you need to stop allowing aggressive play. That means no wrestling and no tug of war too. They obviously can't tell where the line is and you haven't learned to signal where it is yourself. You may want to contact either Cesar Millan (west coast) or Brian Kilcommons (east coast). Dogs get their signals from us. If you have allowed a certain behavior it can escalate as it has with your Rottie. You both need to work with a trainer that will train BOTH of you.
Remember, dogs dont automatically know you are supposed to be alpha just because you are human. You are a part of their pack and if you want the role of alpha you have to earn it through your behaviors and attitudes. Another important thing to remember now is that you have two aggressive and large dogs. Do NOT discipline them with beatings. You are already on the edge now. If you beat them, they may attack.

You should be concerned. Some dogs just have an aggressive nature, but it may also be possible that the previous owner of your dog may have been abusive to him in order to train him as a watch dog. Either way, if you have a dog that has any history of grabbing anyone by the head, I wouldn't take any more chances. Keep him fenced in somewhere and/or chained up so he doesn't hurt you or anyone else. Also, maybe a pet psychiatrist might work if you can find one. But DON'T let him wander around loose because he's obviously dangerous.

I dont think i would want to keep them as pets. Expecially since they have been aggressive with you more than once. I could understand them being startled by you coming out of a pool and looking different, but since its been more than once, i wouldnt trust them at all. they could kill you or a small child or anyone for that matter. we have a dog that has had a somewhat troubled past. we are 3rd owners of him and i DO NOT trust him. My husband does all the handling of him. I do not let my son around him either. When he plays he gets tired and if you bother him when he is tired he will try to bite you. He bit my sister one time on the hand. he is around 10 yrs old so i dont think dogs of this nature can ever change their ways.

I think being that you came out of the water, you may have looked different to your dog and it may have starttled him. He is probably seeing you with your hair dry and you do look a little different when you have wet hair. Another thing that may be possible, maybe he was imbred. I heard that dogs can be very aggressive if they are imbred too many times. Maybe this has happened. If you want to swim, I would suggest either chaining him up or keep him indoors. Maybe if he sees that it is you coming out of the pool, he won't attack anymore. Make sure that he is not too close to you, but have him out so he can see you. Good luck.

you need to be involved in the retraining of your animals. It can be done, if you want to take the time, money and energy to do it. You will have to call in a professional to teach you how to be "the alpha" and you always have to be that way you can never let your dogs dominate anything ever again. Good Luck and don't put them down just because you weren't in control of them in the first place, if anything find a good, strong home for them!!!

You say you were in a pool which means that they could not recognize your scent. They assumed you were a strange creature that emerged from the water to endanger them and their master. You cannot fault them for attacking. However, if they are big dogs, and you are having difficulty handling them, perhaps it's time for you to find a loving home for them. Putting them to sleep is cruel and unusual punishment. They just need someone that is strong enough to handle them without hurting them.

Unfortunately these dogs will progress or get worse if you don't get them help. I think you really need to either put them down or find someone who is an expert with red zone dogs. They need to go through extensive reprogramming. Its in their genes to attack. You are dealing with dangerous dogs and if left unchecked they may seriously harm you or someone else.

You say you've worked with a trainer with these dogs. What does the trainer say?
This potentially serious situation should not be taken lightly.

That's a very serious problem. Only a professional can help you with this. Aggression in dogs is a terrible thing and is very often incurable. I'm sorry.
