Because The Church is made up of believers not a denomination. Any denomination has believers and unbelievers in it at any given time. The True church isn't a physcal thing but ministering to the physcal needs of the people was part of what they did. They identified churches by their locations like the church at corinth or the church at ladociea.

No, the "church" is not a denomation like baptist or catholic, it is the people who follow christ. that has no name, other than the body of belevers.
