I'm straight, physically in excellent shape, and most importantly, grew up in the 80s, when half shirts were normal for guys. It's since become co-opted into gay fashion mostly. I still like to wear half shirts to the gym and to go running and play some sports. I've never directly tried to elicit comments from anyone at the gym, so I just want to get some anonymous POVs. Is it really gross or completely gay or what? (If curious, check pic in my profile, see for yourself what everyone sees.)

Update to answer #11: OK but what exactly makes it "gross" as opposed to shirtless? I'm just curious. Is it that the chest is covered and just midriff is bare? LOL...the answers are great so far!

Is it really gross and completely gay. I don't care how nice your body is a half shirt on a man IS NOT SEXY!! A Tank or T-shirt is sexy or no shirt at all

Do you still wear a mullet too? LOL just kidding, I remember when those were so fine!
I'd say lose the half-shirts, whether they have a connection with homosexuals or not. They're out of style, plus you're old enough that you shouldn't need to flaunt your body to feel good about yourself.

My x used to where half shirts for foot ball. I think it looks funny and not a man thing- sorry I don't want to offend ya. But put on a tank top or a muscle shirt. Put the half shirts in the garbage!

For sports stuff okay. otherwise the 80's are gone along with big hair bands and hammer pants.

Either he couldn't afford a whole shirt or a ferocious beast attacked him and made off with the lower half of his shirt.

I would automatically assume you were gay, sorry. It's just the look. Good on you for trying to be different though.

That look is totally out of date. No offense, but people will think your gay.

Let go of the half-shirt. It really doesn't matter at all what you look like.

I think it's an outdated look. So since it's not in-style currently, I think it would look kinda gay.

definitely gay....80's or not. we also used to wear sleaveless t-shirts or tanktops back in the day. those can show off your guns just as well, too.
