Some of you have wonderful knowledge. I would appreciate your thoughts. I was given a bottle as a house warming gift so I don't know how it was stored. I'm thinking I need to drink it soon for it to have any chance.

Depends on a number of criteria, has the cork been kept wet ? The bottle should be tilted to make sure, if not the Champagne WILL go bad. Also white wines have a shelf life of only about 10 years, where as reds are good for 30 or more. So in my opinion find a reason to drink it then do so. You may find that it is already gone. In my experience Dom that old tastes sulferous.
