A bulging can means the contents inside are spoiled are trying to escape, and if I were you, I'd THROW IT AWAY!!!!!
I've had a can of chili explode while sitting on my pantry shelf...you do NOT want this to happen...messy AND smelly!

It could be botulism. Not a good thing; just throw it out and DO NOT TRY TO OPEN IT! It will probably spray all over your kitchen and be a real pain to clean it (sterilize!!!!) up.
