according to me genetically modified food, plants and animals are good as far as our advancement, our benefits is concerned.but this is interferring in the natural order of things.i mean how can a goat give milk containing of the fibres present in a spider's web! ofcourse! golden rice which was developed to help starving, protein deficient children especially in India. and this was done using genetic engineering.humulin was an artificially created human insulin using a bacterial cell.
as far as doing good things with this power we got is concerned then im with it but if we misuse it then its going to be a disaster!

We have been doing genetic engineering since man invented agriculture. Mankind turned natural weeds into a very important source of food. Weeds like; Wheat, Barely, Rye, and Oats. Proof of mankind’s early and continued genetics research is the dog. Remember that every dog originally came from the wolves. People breeded their dogs to have traits they wanted. So breeding is genetic research for the poor man. Of course don't let a horse breeder hear that they can pay thousands of dollars just to get a race winner to breed with their stock.

"Gregor Mendel , a little known Central European monk, was the only one who got it (genetics) more or less right. His ideas had been published in 1866." Therefore he is know as the father of Modern Genetics. Modern Genetics is so much faster and vaster because we know so much about the DNA molecule, the primary carrier of genetic information. We can do many good things with genetics; like restore the ability to create insulin for Diabetics (we have done it with mice). Genetics have improved our food supply making our food stock more resistant to disease and healthier. We have been doing it for centuries. Of course these products have been tested over time. Genetically engineered foods brought to the grocery shelf without comprehensive testing can be dangerous.

It can be abused though. Many Moslems and Chinese families prefer male babies to girl babies (because the men can take care of them in their old age). Many Chinese have killed their female babies so they can have a son and still meet China's restrictive birth rate quotas. If they continue to do this then they are introducing a genetical preference for male children, the girls get killed. And imagine what would have happened if Hitler had access to genetics; every pregnant German would be tested to make sure they are carrying a blonde haired and blue eyed baby. Hitler practiced the most evil and brutal form of genetics as he tried to remove all Jews from the genetic pool.

Cloning is misunderstood. If you clone something you get an identical BABY, a copy of the original, but their KNOWLEDGE is not transmitted because knowledge is not encoded in DNA. Cloning could provide life saving organs custom designed to the original person. It could have also given Hitler an army of identical children that could have grown into a fighting army (if he had the time and the technology). This is similar to the plot of the movie Boys from Brazil (1978).

Cloning has its problems though. Dolly the sheep didn't live very long and she had several genetic problems, so cloning humans is very dangerous at this point. But, it could also give lesbian couples the ability to reproduce.

Cloning and Genetics aren't evil; humans have been doing it for a long time. Recent technological advances have improved our ability to do this and shorten the time required. Cloning and Genetics are not wrong or evil; it is the intent of the people that use them that can be good or evil.

People are having lower tolerances to sickness now. Some people are blaming genetically engineered or cloned food. Unnatural chemicals working against our digestive tract.

I personally think too many people are visiting McDonalds.
