Within Christianity, the doctrine of the Trinity states that God is a single Being who exists, simultaneously and eternally, as a perichoresis of three persons (personae, prosopa): Father (the Source, the Eternal Majesty); the Son (the eternal Logos or Word, incarnate as Jesus of Nazareth); and the Holy Spirit (the Paraclete or advocate). Since the 4th Century AD, in both Eastern and Western Christianity, this doctrine has been stated as "One God in Three Persons," all three of whom, as distinct and co-eternal "persons" or "hypostases," share a single Divine essence, being, or nature.

It's a mystery. Any explanation will fall short in some way. Some things are best understood by realising they are best not understood.

The father created all things, we sinned and were separated from Him. The Son came to pay for our sins, so that we could be reconciled to the Father in a restored reconnection of relationship. And the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is God's Spirit living right inside of us, meaning our realtionship with Him is now a near, intimate one, no longer a distant one separated by the Law like in the Old days of the bible.

And all are the same person, yet three. The language in bible suggests both at one. In Genesis 1 God says, "Let us..." meaning God is one but also three.

Being human we always want to know more. But if we know our place as just people before an infinite God, then we'll be content with mystery and not knowing a lot, because we trust the God who does know everything, controls everything and loves us, and so we're secure.

The Trinity is the Three Persons of God(the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit): three persons, but only one God. And what do you mean the Father cannot do anything? The Father is God, the Father can do EVERYTHING! and what..lady with child are you referring to..?

anyway, nobody REALLY understands the Holy Trinity because it's a mystery of God, so you're not alone.

The Trinity is the term given to God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ, God made man), and God the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is three distinct persons, yet are one. This is not a tangible thought necessarily, yet it is still true and accurate. They each carry out a specific role in the one Godhead but since they are one, God is indeed omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.

God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Only Christians believe in the Trinity as God. Unitarian Universalism, although not necessarily Christian, believe in the oneness of God and believe universally that all religions are basically good and serve God. Most other religions believe in one God. Although Hindus have many gods, they are for the purpose of helping the less spiritually advanced Hindu to progress. Buddhist do not believe in God per se unless you consider God as the Oneness with the Universe.

There is God who is the Father. Jesus who is the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are like a Playstation 2. 3-in-1. A Playstaion can play DVD's, CD's and video games but it is still one system. God made the world and everything in it. People needed a savior from all of the sin in the world so God Sent Jesus in human form down to earth to die on the cross for all of us. If we see the Trinity in their actual form we would be blinded from their glory and brightness. The holy spirit gives people strength and encouragment. God controls everything. He protects us. The Holy Spirit guides us. And Jesus Christ saved us and all three love us.

There are good examples in nature. This would follow as any creation is a reflection of the creator- embodying fundamental characteristics and qualities. The universe itself may suit. Take these three components-Space, Matter, Time. All three are completely distinct and only marginally synonymous without added qualification. Yet, the universe would melt away if you removed any of them. Start with SPACE--it is the ultimate nothingness, void, dark, etc. yet it is impossible to have material and phenomenon without a place for it to happen. It is the most intangible and yet most essential (Father). Now, inside space we have MATTER-tangible, visible, testable, smellable, etc. All phenomenon we comprehend involves matter or the energy within it (Son). Incidentally without Matter, you would have no concept of space because there would be no depth, point of reference or phenomenon. At last TIME--Imagine history without chronology. Civil War today, Pearl harbor tomorrow, and Sept 11th was last week and next week. See a rock travel from here to there, but it arrives in the middle last. Without time, the universe would have no rational basis and would be the epitome of insanity. It makes both space and matter comprehensible (spirit).

One God, three persons--Father, Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost. They are co-equal but have different roles. Think of the Father as the Heavenly Father (director? perhaps), the Son as the Redeemer, and the Holy Ghost as the councilor/comforter. I can tell you the definition but I have a difficult time getting my finite brain around the concept.

Trinity is "A three-fold personality existing in one divine being or substance, the union in one God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three infinite co-equal, co-eternal persons as; one God in three persons.

The trinity concept came from PAGANISM-(paganism means no religious beliefs); here are a few sites that will tell you:

http://www.historychannel.com/exhibits/s...

http://www.chipublib.org/shamrock/stpats...
http://www.faqfarm.com?q/who_was_st._pat...

There are 3 that protestants claim about the trinity; they're JOHN 14 & 15 and 1JOHN 5:7. To start out 1JOHN 5:7 was never in any of the inspired Greek manuscripts; so this knocks out one. As for John 14 & 15; the Greek word for "helper" is paracletos; one who helps inwhich points to the Holy spirit. In Greek, the word "He" is neuter such as "hand" is feminine whether it is a woman's hand or male's hand. As for the word "paracletos" it is masculine and always require a masculine pronoun. This however doesn't prove personhood as you've noticed.
But as you've noticed, these texts don't prove Jesus is God or the Holy Spirit.

I don't believe in the TRINITY! The Bible texts that I'm going to mention contradict the Trinity teaching.
MATT.12:32 "AND WHOSOEVER SPEAKETH A WORD AGAINST THE SON OF MAN, IT SHALL BE FORGIVEN HIM: BUT WHOSOEVER SPEAKETH AGAINST THE HOLY GHOST, IT SHALL NOT BE FORGIVEN HIM, NEITHER IN THIS WORLD, NEITHER IN THE WORLD TO COME."
JOHN 14:28 "IF YE LOVED ME, YE WOULD REJOICE, BECAUSE I SAID , I GO UNTO THE FATHER: FOR MY FATHER IS GREATER THAN I."
1COR.11:3 "BUT I WOULD HAVE YOU KNOW THAT THE HEAD OF EVERY MAN IS CHRIST; & THE HEAD OF THE WOMAN IS THE MAN; AND THE HEAD OF CHRIST IS GOD."
LUKE 18:19 "AND JESUS SAID UNTO HIM, WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? NONE IS GOOD, SAVE ONE, THAT IS, GOD."
****SEVERAL OTHER TEXTS SAY THERE'S ONLY TWO PERSONS:
1COR.1:3; 8:6; 1TIM.1:2; 2:5; GAL.1:3; PHILIPP.1:2; ROM.1:7; 2COR.1:2-3; 1THESS.1:1; 2THESS.1:2; 2TIM.1:2; PHILEMON 1:3; 1PETER 1:3; 2PETER 1:2; 1JOHN 1:3; 2JOHN 1:3.

God is Spirit(John 4:22-24.).

Now touching on the Holy Spirit; the Holy Spirit is a power(Luke 1:35) where God and Jesus make their presence known in the hearts and minds of believers(1John 3:24). The believers of God and Jesus will have this love poured on them(Rom.5:5). It will teach them understanding and wisdom of God's Word (John 14:16,17,20,23,26. Jesus had the Holy Spirit in him when he made the lame walk and the deaf to hear and etc. (Luke 5:15-17). God works in our minds to give us strength to overcome (Gen.6:3). Other texts are: John 7:38-39; Rom.8:11,13-14,16 & Psalm 104:30.

Also why I don't believe in the TRINITY is because it says in the KJV that the false church will cast all the truth to the ground (Daniel 8:12). I happen to know this false church because all the world(Matt.7:13) has followed it (Rev.12:9; 13:3,12) except for one church (Acts 20:28).
