CTRL ALT DEL and bring up the task manager.

Go to processes tab and end the process of anything that says IEXPLORER.

Then go to Add/Remove programs in your control panel and remove it completely using the installer. Make sure its not running in the background by using the method above.

You dont really need to remove it. Its useful sometimes because there are a lot of bugs with Mozilla/Firefox when it comes to javascript bugs. It could come in handy in time of need.

Microsoft made Internet Explorer built into Windows. You don't want to remove it. Both some sites don't support Firefox well, such as Windows update which REQUIRES Internet Explorer, as well as other general sites. It is also very hard to remove it, although you can delete the EXE file pieces of it will remain all over.

Just leave it there. Not a good idea to get rid of it. Long story.

What would you do if Firefox did not work? Use IE as a backup internet browser.

Use the Add/Remove Windows Components and uninstall IE.

Why get rid of it. Just don't use it if you don't want to. Delete all shortcuts to it and rename it. That way you still have it, but it can't be used until you name it back.
