id suggest walking more than a mile, because that wont do too much... if youre really serious about losing weight, then walk a little bit more than a mile, but also watch what you eat.

I am a health care provider. A couple of years ago my Mother went through some very bad health situations, heart by-pass being the most serious. After her surgery she was encouraged to walk very briefly every day.

So wanting to get involved in her recovery I walked with her. And also prepared all the meals. (I can give you our diet program if you would like). So along with my sister and Mother we began to walk only 1/2 mile after she was strong enough.

Mother soon began to do a mile per day. Mom's begining weight of 180. I weighed 178, sister 160. At the end of the first month Mom weighed 165, I weighed 157, my sister weighed a slim 140!

While we ate very well and 3 regular meals? And 5 snacks every single day!

Mom's walks were slower I have to say. But my sister and I stepped ours up a notch to what I call "sweat walking". Walk just fast enough to break a sweat but be able to carry on a conversation.

Mom met her goal of 140 after 12 weeks. But such a drastic loss of 40 lbs was due to not only her food intact and walking but her health issues, so 40 lbs in 12 weeks is uncommon.

But I and my sister continued to walk and incressed our walks to 3 miles per day. We had our dinner meal promptly at 6:00 and waited 20 mintues before taking our walk for optimum burn.

At the end of 3 months I weighed 127, my sister weighed 120. We did no other exercise! Merely walked. And ate full meals and snacks. And I am not talking cerlery sticks and tofu. Although vegtables were a part of every meal.

So I would say based on our results of merely walking as a means of burnng calories that we were very sucessful.

In 3 months time I lost 51 lbs, my sister lost 40 lbs and have maintained that loss by continuing to walk 1 mile each and every day.

So good luck to you............

Depends how much u eat each day. A mile a day is gonna do NOTHING!!! Exercise atleast 45 min a day, and RUN not walk atleast 2 miles a day and watch what u eat and u will be good in no time.

Walking isn't a great way to lose weight. I don't expect that you would see much weight loss at all. Try running, or lifting weights. Although if you are just starting to exercise walking is a good start. Get moving!

i don't know, it depends on your diet. i've been taking about a 2 mile walk every couple of days, and i have a pretty average food intake and i've dropped 5 pounds in the last couple weeks.

Assuming you walk at a fairly fast pace and eat just a little less then you would normally do. you can lose one pound every three days.

In the mood for the hot meal? Make a massive pot of veggie bean soup, divide into two-cup containers, and store inside freezer. Before bed, place a container inside the fridge, then grab it before heading out the door each morning.

Eat in front of a person rather than screen. It cuts down on mindless eating and making you more accountable for each nip.
