In general the percentage of males in medicine is higher
Female OBGYNs are on the increase
The same could be said about midwives and nurses, why are most of them female?

The females are slowly taking over. Obstetrics is a tough field. Irregular hours + extreme stress. Always dealing with two lives + the spouse. Women were, till recently, less inclined towards obs.
Taking up a career in obs means giving up a lot of nice things in life. You cant be a homemaker. Even going to the movies can be risky. Manicure, pedicure and hair saloon visits are a luxury. Most women think twice before taking up obs.

It just depends on the person, not their gender. I chose a male because he was the most experienced obgyn in the town i live in. The doctor that delivered my cildren also delivered me, my fiance, my brother and my brother in law, not to mention a lot of other family members. We do have a female obgyn around here, but she hadnt been practicing too long when I became pregnant. I trust a male doctor with 40 years experience more than a female doctor with 4 years experience

You know I have noticed that, but all the women in my family swear by male doctors!
I've been told the majority of them are much more gentle and take care of you better!
The one's my family knows!
My OB is a male, only after having a terrible experience with a female doctor!
I know him personally and I know he'll take good care of me when it comes time to deliver! I trust him so thats why i stuck wit him!

Statistically, most physicians are male so it would make sense that any medical field would be dominated by men.

i think its because guys are facinated by the womens body n how we can carry another life in our boby
