White German shepherds are considered a genetic flaw, in some circles. Some people breed them and call them rare. Do not pay more than you would for a good quality German shepherd dog, and do not let them tell you they are better! Every responsible German shepherd breeder I know gags at the thought of having a white dog in their lines!
Sometimes rare does not always mean better! I have seen a number of white shepherds, and they seem to have more behavioral problems than regular shepherds. Not a scientific fact, mind you, just something I have personally observed.
If you are interested in getting one, research breeders carefully! As far as I know, white shepherds are NOT AKC standard, if that is important to you. Good luck, and I hope you don't get rooked!

They are very rare but you should try looking into german shepard rescues, I live in MA. and I know there is a New England chapter, sometimes they have white shepards, or a rescue might know of reputable breeders, and people to stay away from.
