The reason for the New Testement to be followed is because Jesus died on the cross for us so we can be forgiven of our sins through asking God and not sacrificing animals or whatever after we have been bapitized.

I don't remember anywhere in the Bible about any religion being named as the only religion.

Christ speaks about being the Head of the Church. Notice that He says in Matthew 16:18 ...I will build "MY" church. In several other verses (to find them just look in the concordance of your Bible), He refers to "a" church or "the" church. These words are singular. He never says anywhere "all the churches" or "all the different congregations". I think God only intended for there to be one church. Man has created his own church to suit his own needs. I think it is important to find a church that preaches what the Bible says. ONLY what the Bible says. So many today add to the words of God and take from them as well.

i've visited a lot of churches, and i've found The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be most accurate in its teachings. It actually follows the New Testament - Just like the church of Jesus that he established back then, the church of "long-time-ago saints." It's not your usual church, though. It's different. It's wonderful. I really feel God's presence when I attend and study about it. You will too, if you give it a chance. No matter how your life is now, it can change your life for the better. take a peak at Mormon.org. there is more info there.
best wishes.

There are a few things to consider when your looking for the church that is right for you. First you at least have your specified criteria, it must be as close to possible to following the new testament. Now of course you most likely realize that you will never find a church that is perfect, as if my assumption (forgive me of course for doing so) that you believe in biblical innerrancy as a divinely inspired text. However churches are of men and woman and although there is good to be found in church of course, no church can really ever meet up to the standards that you seek from the text. Also its important to look at the lifestyle changes you may be looking at in order to follow the text as closely as you appear to seek. The first century roman empire was a very different world than the one we live in today. If you choose to try and adopt a similar lifestyle to the one in that timeperiod it is of course your perrogative but few churches can adopt the lifestyle of that time period.

Many reformed tradition churches offer a bit of an ancedote that i think you may find interesting although it may be outside of your general perspective by reading your question. It is not our job to believe IN the bible, but rather to believe the bible. If we believe in the bible we are elevating it to a level that is above the level of a compliation produced by men. If you believe the bible was dictated word for word from God (as parts were to Moses) that is one thing, but if you believe men had a hand in the work it may be important to realize some truly "bible believing" churches border a bit on a legalistic side of Christianity. Just something to consider.

However many people have offered good advice, you should try and few different churches and denomonations and find what you feel is best for you and brings you closest to what you believe God asks of you.

The Protestant movement began the reform of returning to the bible as the only rule of faith...In my search I find that although not perfect the Seventh Day Adventist's are the closest to being correct in their understanding and adherence to the bible both New and Old testament

Study the Bible and do what it says - and Ask God to direct your life. If you live your life according to the scriptures as best you understand them.., the Lord will teach you if you are in error without contamination of most these stray churches who just claim to preach the truth.

The Lord will teach you! Just don't let someone mess with your head from Trinity churches, Mormons, Catholics (also trinity).., and so on. Its safer to stick with God's word.., the Bible.

The Seventh-Day Adventist church has the whole truth. They keep the 10 Commandments and have the Testimony of Jesus (Revelation 12:17, Rev 19:10), which is the Spirit of Prophecy. Visit them at http://www.adventist.org and if you want to see their fundamental beliefs go to http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/fundamental/index.html

Catholic Church. Guaranteed by Christ Himself to be His Church and will prevail even against the gates of Hell.

Jesus created the Catholic Church. All the Church Fathers agreed it was Christ who started it. All of them agreed it is protected by the Holy Spirit to be innerant in teaching faith and morals.

It was the Church who decided what the New Testament would even be. The New Testament is Catholic and it's illogical to suggest otherwise. Catholics measured the scriptures against the teachings held by the Church and deemed which were truth and inspired by God.

So if you want a church that follows the New Testament go for the one that chose the New Testament.

The new testament says that the true church is founded upon Apostles and Prophets and evangelists, Christ being the Corner stone of the church. If you find a church that Has Prophets and Apostles together and have Christ as their Chief corner stone. then you have found the Church of the New Testaments.
