I used to be the shyest girl on the planet, but then I moved to America and I dunno what happened. LOL. Well, that doesn't help you.

What reasons do you have for being selfconcious? Talk it over to yourself, and think why. Why are all these people better than me? They are your freinds and people you want to hang out with. Yes, yes, there has to be that element of impressing them, unfortunatley in our society.

Sometimes when I'm out and about I mess up or say something stupid, and two things happen. I get shaky and nervous, and then I lose my confidence. If I am at a dance, I go to the restroom and calm down, look in the mirror into my own eyes and ask myself who I'm afraid of. My freinds? The girls I've known since 6th grade? The guys? Am I trying to impress them? Do I need to be? And if I can't, I get a mental grip on myself and say something funny to cover it up, like it's no big deal.

SO mainly, just reasoning can help.

In your situation, you could come into a new group of people and make a joke about yourself, how you can never get into conversations. The worst thing that can happen is that things will stay the same. Probably they won't. You are an interesting person with your own flair, go out there and flaunt it. Everyone likes to talk and to meet new people. Oh, maybe take a close freind who can break the ice for you, and not leave you in the dust.
good luck.

You have to like yourself. If you do others will like you to. You have to realize that you are gonna make mistakes and when you do it infront of a group you have to be able to laugh at yourself. " Oh that was brillant" People will laugh and say that person is just like me. I like this person. He or she doesn't take themself so serious and people will relax around you and let down thier guard down and you can see no ones perfect. Next thing you know you have bonded with the group and you find yourself talking about about everyday activities.
