The thing is...I was at the mall with a bunch of friends. And one of my friends stole something and gave it to some other friend we saw at the mall. I told her not to but....she never listens. So then we're at another store and are called intot he back room of that store where she stole the thing from. And we're like questioned and shown the camera footage. And I was accused too because I'm the one seen in the footage with her cuz I was by her. Of course I didn't wanna rat my friend out so we played innocent (even though i REALLY didn't do ne thing) and they had no real way to prove we had done it. So they let us off, took all our information down and we're not allowed in that store. Now I'm really ticked off cuz I dont want my record to be pulled up in the future by universities and employers and to see that i was involved in shoplifting when I had no part in it. If the police weren't called and they let us go.....will it hurt my record?

They showed you a video type of your friend sho lefting, Ithiknthats proff enough that your friend did the crome. It'll go to your record if they called it in withthe local police department. And if you did it again they could pres charges. Since it was the first offence **maybe** they could have let you go and kicked you from the stor so that they dont hav eto go through the prossess of the court system. If it was a second act they would have called the local athorities, and that would have gone on your record. With video, its hard not to prove you did anything.

a protection preserve is there for the protection and protection of the mall and to make effective the guidelines of the mall are being obeyed. someone will be faraway from the mall for any reason they see more desirable healthy because they're a private sources. between the household initiatives of the protection preserve is to kick people out. you have not got any action to take. The procuring mall is inner most sources, they only grant you with rights to come back there... they have each and each of the rights to get rid of you.

I am a former Director of Security for a shopping center. That officer was probably only conducting a "Field Interview" your information is only kept internally in the event your a continuous problem or they need to contact you for other crimes you might be involved with. If a police officer did not arrest you, you have nothing to worry about. Ditch the friend

No, if that's as far as it goes. But an increasing number of stores don't call the police because if it's not prosecuted as a criminal case, it can be pursued as a civil case instead, for profit. The store may call your parents and try to extort a cash "settlement" from them with the threat of suing them for your shoplifting. If this happens, and the case goes to court, it will then be a matter of public record.

Unless the real police ticket or charge you with a crime, there is no police record that will be found.

Will there be a "record" of this on paper at the secuity office, incase that mall has a problem with you in the future.

Even if the real police took your name and info for a report, there is no record that would be checked unless charged and arrested

You might have gotten lucky this time. Stay out of the mall they will prosecute you next time. If they didn't take your photo and fingerprints chances are you have no record, and certainly no conviction record. Under certain circumstances, national agency security check I would counsel you do tell about this and to explain it rather than deny it. These checks are frequently done with polygraph after and it is just enough for you to fail polygraph maybe.

THIS IS A TOUGH QUESTION TO ANSWER. REALISTICALLY, YOUR INFO AND THIS INCIDENT WILL NOT BE REPORTED TO THE POLICE. HOWEVER, DEPENDING ON WHETHER THIS IS A SMALL LOCAL FIRM OR NATIONAL STORE, YOU CAN EXPECT YOUR INFO TO BE INPUTTED TO THEIR DATABASE. THESE RECORDS CAN BE AND ARE PURCHASED BY DATA MINING COMPANIES AND BIG CORPORATIONS. THEY CREATE PROFILES AND KEEP TRACK OF WHAT TYPE OF PERSON YOU ARE, WHAT YOU BUY, AREAS OF PERSONAL INTEREST AND SO ON. BUT BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL QUESTION, NO, THIS INCIDENT WOULD NOT SHOW UP ON A STANDARD POLICE BACKGROUND CHECK BY AN EMPLOYER OR UNIVERSITY, BUT IF THEY WERE TO USE AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION SERVICE, ONE THAT SUBSCRIBED TO A DATA MINING COMPANY, IT MIGHT POSSIBLY COME UP, BUT THE HIRING COMPANY WOULD NEVER MENTION IT AND IF THEY WERE QUESTIONED WHY YOU WEREN'T HIRED, THEY WOULD SAY IT WAS BECOME OF SOMETHING ELSE, BECAUSE THEY WOULD ONLY BE ABLE TO USE ACTUAL CASES THAT YOU WERE CONVICTED OF AS AN EXCUSE.

They could file a report with the police. And that will be on record. If you are ever caught doing anything else your name can be tracked.

If the police weren't involved...neither was your record. Maybe you shouldn't go shopping with that friend anymore.
