A friend of mine answered a similar question for me not so very long ago - as I seem to get the sick animals as well: God entrusted this animal to you because he knew that you would provide the love and care that it needed. If only for two days. You can't tell me that this dog didn't feel relief and feel the love of being in your home for those two days! He lived long enough to share and enjoy two days of love and care. Is that punishment? I don't think so. God doesn't punish kind hearts. But he will ask you to do it again and again. And you need to do it again and again ---- for if you don't, who will?
