Boston Terriers are still a part of the Terrier dog group. This dog group as a rule is very hyper and energetic. If you have the time to help him expend his energy (walks, playtime, frisbee) then this is a great dog for you. They are super affectionate, but sometimes (this is a dog by dog basis) are more difficult to train. They are not yippy at all, and very affectionate. I know several that have been very happy with their people.

I have two boston terriers, peanut and jack, they are both very loyal, but they are night and day to each other. My female is very outgoing and playful, shes a tomboy with my husband. Loves to rough house around. My male is sort of sissyfied to put it nicely. He wont rough house with us he is whiney. I love them both though. They are VERY AFFECTIONATE. Love attention and will compete for it. They are hyper as well when together but apart they are calm. My sister has a BT as well. He is a big boy, and he acts like a king. They are so funny. Just have to be careful with their eyes since they have poppy eyes. My male hurt his eye last week somehow, not sure what he did, but his eye swelled behind and I rushed him to the good doctor and he had to take eye drops to reduce swelling so he wouldnt loose the eye. Thank goodness the swelling receded and he is fine. But all it took was some sort of eye trauma, maybe from playing with his girlfriend and she may have bumped him hard in the eye to cause the blow. But I would definetly reccomend on getting a BT, they are smaller dogs and the short hair causes like no problems on shedding. But they dont tolerate extreme heat or cold well. In winter depending on where you live, if it snows or is real cold I recommend a dog sweater. Good luck!

I do know that they are very playful, and just love to play ball. I would go to the library and check a book out on Boston Terriers. That should answer most of your questions. They are cute.

I have a BT. She is very affectionate; eager to please... ALWAYS wants to be near me. She can be obedient, is ALWAYS friendly to strangers. She only barks at other dogs... so not really yippy unless she get worked up. She like to "be the princess", i.e. on top of a pile of pillows, on top of clothes, etc. We take the covers off the bed a night and the BT 'burrows' into the cover for her den for the evening.
She is VERY affectionate with our cats.

Anytime you're thinking about obtaining a particular breed of dog its a good idea to grab a book on the particular breed. It will give you the general characteristics of the breed and from that you will be able to figure out if its the breed for you. A book on the breed will let you know basically what to expect from that breed of dog. Education is the key!!

It depends on the dogs personality. You just never know, and that applys to all breeds. Training can help correct some problems, if you know how to follow through with the training. Good luck.

it depends on how you trian them. They are good for their size and they are fairly good with kids and not yippy unless they have an opinion on something or need to go outside.
