I would massage the head when you shampoo so you can stimulate at the cuticle to promote growth.... also braiding is a method that seems to help most.. for 2 reasons... 1 it grows I believe due to the slight pull and 2 you don't have to look at the short hair till it grows to the length you want... braid it every two weeks for a few months and see what happens...

Good diet, good amounts of rest and conditon, condition and condition. Try wrapping your hair at night or cover your pillowcase with a soft silk fabric like a scarf. Cotton is great but can snag and snap your hair while you sleep- it's true. Also keep hats and ponytails to a minimum, they also can create dryness which makes hair easily brittle and therefore not to grow healthy. Contact a good hairdresser or stylist or simply ask someone whose hair always looks fabulous what they use or where they get their hair done. Talk to your doctor to cancel out any more serious problems with your health that may have made an impact on your hair. Good Luck!!!

T-I-M-E
I know this isn't the answer you wanted to hear but it is the TRUTH!

On average, hair grows at the rate of 1/4 to 1/2 an inch per month. Depending on how long you want it to grow depends on how long you will be waiting.

In the mean time, get creative with your styling to spice things up and give you an instant change :)

I am a state board certified cosmetologist and the only advice I can give you is to massage your head alot, wear braids in your hair at night and whenever you shampoo your hair or condition it in the shower always massage your head and this lets blood to your head flow easier and in turn makes your hair grow out faster.Oh! and one more thing...rinse shampoo and conditioner out thouroughly with COOL water and within time it will begin to grow out.Anything other than that is pretty much useless.

Prenatal vitamins, massaging the scalp when you wash your hair and rinsing your scalp with green tea or an infusion (tea) of sage and drinking at least 8, 8 oz glasses of water daily, drinking tea also helps these things will all help your hair grow by correcting any vitamin deficiencies and increasing circulation to your scalp.

I would start on Nioxin. You have to get it in salons but it is guaranteed to make your hair grow. Also, you will want to brush your scalp every day, not just your hair. Green veggies and water.
