You have to root for Peter because he was this dysfunctional, insecure guy trying his best to be the best disciple and often ended up putting his foot in his mouth. He was hardly a candidate for being a useful leader but he wasn't afraid to make mistakes and try again. He was rebuked for rebuking Jesus, failed while walking on water, denied Jesus 3 times, was forgiven three-fold by Jesus. But following Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit fell on him he became the apostle he was destined to be. And thankfully we can all be like that when we wait for God's power to fall on us, and when we work with God's might in us, no matter how bumbling a failure we feel we are.

Paul
i thought about this a few times before I answered but my heart always came back to him.
He spoke compassion but he denounced sin-even called Peter out in front of the Congregation. Yet both didn't hold it against each other. And he didn't want Timothy to go with him once-yet we see they were close for years after. And what a teacher.
The list of what I like could go on and on more than you would want to read.

So Paul is who I have a real softness for. But I have room for plenty of love for the others, God gave us big enough hearts.

Peter man, gotta be Peter. Cause he's real. He sounds (from reading the bible) like a regular dude, who wanted to do good stuff but he kept failing, falling, flunking. You know what I mean? Just like us. We want to be good but we keep messing up.
