Escapist, most likely. Though I must say, many novels that have been well-researched do have alot of historical information in them, as well as different languages and social customs, etc. You can pick up alot of good information in some books.
Examples: The Outlander Series (TONS of info about Scotland and the Jacobites)
Gone with the Wind (Detailed informtion during the Civil War era)

reading is much better the book continues u thinking and also you get greater detail in what folks are thinking therefore you have more imagination

Reading the reserve instead of enjoying the movie is the ultimate way to see what the writer planned. Reading uses your creativity, hones your reading skills, and can better your vocabulary
