You need to teach your dog to sit on command and to learn the word "no". Teaching dogs manners is NOT bad for the dog, does not "hurt their feelings" and they will not "love" or "respect" you less. Try gently correcting the puppy. Take him off your lap and say "no".
Also I always recommend the TV Show "The Dog Whisperer".

We raised Great Dane/St. Bernard Crosses that weighed over 165 lbs each. You need both big dogs and little dogs to learn manners and it your responsibility. Yes, your little pet is just a puppy, but try to not let him get away with things now or you will just confuse him later.

well it may sound mean but just keep placing the dog back on the floor if that dont help get a lil pet taxi and then when the dog does that put him in the taxi , in time they will learn that is not acceptable , another thing u cna do is get a spray bottle with water and when the dog gets up on the couch chair etc lightly spray the water at him he should get away then , but the maon thing is each time the dog does it u have to put the dog down and tell him know but is best to tell them know before they even get on the couch , and if you are always holding your dog on your lap well you are on the couch the dog will keep doing it so u need to set the limite now .

Your dog is just jelous-remember he came from a litter where closeness was alll he knew, the litter snuggled all the time. Your issue is an easy problem to fix.
Step 1: When your dog jumps up, scratch him on his ears and love him to give him reassurance...then very gently place him on the floor.
Step 2: When he jumps up again, very gently say no, put him on the floor and THEN scratch his ears and tell him "good boy!"
Everytime he jumps up again do step 2...Pretty soon he will get the message.

Go tell your neighbors what happened. It was an accident, you didn't do it on purpose. You won't really get in any trouble because in the end it's the neighbor's fault for letting him out at night without a leash. The neighbors might be mad at you, but that's about the worst thing that's going to happen. I'd be pretty annoyed at your boyfriend, though for just leaving you to deal with it. That's kind of an ****** thing to do.

Dogs do not like to be left alone for a long time. If you are not spending enough time with your puppy, this could be a reason. Also dogs like to snuggle, so it's just that he can get lovin' form you both at one time. Puppies grow so quickly, indulge him now and in due time he will learn that it's not his place.

Keep the dog, dump the boyfriend. A dog will be loyal to you for 10-12 years...how many guys stick around that long??

Just tell him no, then pick him up and put him back down on the floor. Use a nice, friendly voice - talk to your dog like you would a toddler. And when he does it again - repeat. He'll eventually get the idea.
