People who do tailgate show no respect for the rules of the road or for the people whom theyare tailgating. That said in some circumstances for example an older couple out for a Sunday drive I understand it is hard not to tailgate or say a very slow moving truck. It depends on the situation. But if you are going 75 mph and someone is tailgating you it is pure ignorance.Best to get out of their way.As they go by you can thank them with a smile and a wave like me or you can retaliate with anger which will only lead to road rage. Please do not tailgate it is very dangerous for us all. My sister drives like that. Scares me to death. I won't get in a car with her unless I absolutely have to. The thing is, it's not a conscious thing for her. It's just the way she drives. If I say something, she'll pull back but she thinks I'm just being wierd. I think she would have to make a conscious effort to stop doing it, and probably would need someone to remind her now and then. I don't know if this is true for other tailgaters, but I suspect it is. They don't even realize they are irritating the He** out of you.
