I like to do everything in my power to help everyone, even if they do not want my help. I feel bad even when people say go away but I understand they may have been through some things. But the problem is i try and impress God but don't live for him.

You can't impress God. It's not that helping people isn't good, but really that's what everyone should do. Doing what you should do, while admirable, is not impressive to God.

He doesn't ask us to impress Him. He asks us to love Him. To live for Him.

While I applaud your willingness to serve others, I would caution you against doing so against their will. It's not really service if it's unwanted. That borders on harrassment, even if it's not your intention. Service includes sensitivity to the feelings of others.

I hope I'm misunderstanding what you're saying about that.

Either way, check out "Boundaries" by Henry Cloud and John Townsend. It will help you on both counts.

God bless you in your service to Him.

My opinion would be that GOD does appreciate what you are doing. You are supposed to treat others as you yourself would like to be treated. My feeling of you not living for GOD is kind of in the air because I to do the same thing. Only I seem to go back and forth. Which I know he does not like. You may not live for him but do you sin against him. That is the real question. At least that is my opinion. I mainly wanted to let you know that by being there for others GOD will recognize this. He is after all our GOD.

God created the universe out of nothing. What could you possibly do to impress Him?

So I guess my answer is God might like it that you try to help people, but He would like it better if you were motivated by love of God and love of people than a superficial need to impress Him.

What you need do is to renew your mind and to love God with all your heart and to start living for Him alone. It's only after then that you can impress Him. Whatever you do right now outside His will is nothing and has no reward. So, you're not impressing Him at all.

If you don't live for God then of course he will not like what you do:

Gal 2:19 So far as the Law is concerned, however, I am dead---killed by the Law itself---in order that I might live for God. I have been put to death with Christ on his cross,

Yes he might like some of the things you do. But your life as a whole is not pleasing to him, until everything you do is for him.

Everything.

I think what you're doing is Great! That does impress God! God loves a cheerful giver! One of your goals here on earth is to Live Jesus like, you're not perfect and you can't push your wants/wishes on other people but it doesn't hurt to be nice! For those who are willing to accept, Give! For those who don't, Smile!

I am encouraged by your spirit and your desire to help. God is happy that you want to help. Jesus, when he was here did not help those who didn't want His help. If He were here today He might suggest that you ask for permission first.
You were created by God and so the best impression you could give Him is to Love Him and Keep His commandments...In other words...make HIM look good.

If you like to help that's a good thing. If you like to help with the purpose to impress some kind of god, this is stupid.

You are driving yourself crazy trying to impress a non-existant god.

Learn how to meditate and discover the God within.

To impress God is to study his word and obey his commandments. Ask God what does he want you to do. Be patient because sometimes he likes to wait for a long time to answer your question. He is testing your faith. You also have to listen and think about things ask him to make it clear to you of what he wants you to do. God is merciful and powerful and remember he can do all things you just have to have faith its hard believe me but hang in there.
