Hi! Besides the obvious fact that learning Spanish as a second language opens up a huge door in communicating with many more people in the world, I found that learning Spanish as a second language was easy, fun, and gave me a ton of confidence. When I travel to parts of the world that speak Spanish, I get a lot more respect from the people who live there because I have chosen to learn to speak a language other than my native English. Speaking Spanish -- or any second language, for that matter -- makes you feel part of another community other than your own. Also, there is a certain aspect of speaking another language that makes you think differently. Each language carries with it is own culture, and in that its own way of thought. That might be difficult to understand, but once you have a mastery of a language, you will learn what I mean by this. I wish you luck!!

Probably because there is so many Latino's and Hispanics here. It is a beautiful language and whether it be Spanish or any other language, speaking more than one is an advantage in the work place. I am currently learning to speak Spanish and I love it. Besides when you learn it and you walk by Mexicans that figure you don't know what they are saying. It's fun to watch their face when you speak back to them.

more languages you know better opportunities you have.

puedes ir a cualquier parte del mundo, España, venezuela,Chile, Peru, Ecuador y conocer gente nueva, otras culturas y explorar las oportunidades de ser bilingue, ahh y claro obtener mejores oportunidades de trabajos.

the advantages of learning a language, not only spanish ( the real name is "castellaño" if you don't know it. ) is the opportunities to get a better job, to meet new people from different levels of education (speaking their language). and to know more about their cultures

my native language is Spanish and I'm so proud of that, and know I'm trying to learn English as you can see.

PS. a person who doesn't speak English doesn't mean that he is not intelligent. he's just as another person who doesn't know how to express freely.

bets me, I prefer languages far away from home, so that I would want to travel away for the US, if I learn Spanish, then I would be stuck near its boarders, and I can learn Spanish anytime, you can just live in a neighborhood that speck it and you would pick it up soon enough

I'll tell you why- as a white person living in a majority hispanic city, I know Spanish, but I tell people I don't know it, and nobody expects me to know it (cuz I'm white). You'd be surprised what people will talk about when they think you can't understand- even if you're standing right next to them...
