Everytime I go to a hotel room, there is a Bible in the main drawer. Do you think it is okay for people to leave it there? Do you think hotel staff should remove it if they see one? If not, should other religious materials be allowed to be kept there?

I think its fine, and no I dont think it should be removed. The Gideons leave it there for you to read it or not, throw it away or not, take it home or leave it for the next guy. Should phone books be taken out of hotels because Amish believe phones are evil?

Alot if hotels provide Bibles in every hotel room. I think it is kind of creepy. Everywhere you go now days someone is always trying to shove religion down your throat. Give people a chance to decide for themselves. Don't put the Bibles in the dresser drawers and clean up and material left after every customer at the hotel. It's called maid service for a reason!

Depends on who own the hotel is to what should be left there. I am thinking that they left bible in the hotel because they thought it would stop un married sex, or they didn't have Tv back in the day and that was their Entertainment? People used to take there religion more serious then they do now. They would go to bed Reading the bible and Wake Up reading the bible and praying.

The hotel people put it there. Is it possible that people who have the exact same Bible leave their Bibles in the exact same drawer as any other room? I'm OK with this since America is a mostly Christian (Catholic, Protestant, Episcopial, Baptist, Mormon, Methodist, whatever) nation. I'd bet Middle Eastern hotels leave a Koran in their drawers.

People do not leave them there. The hotels leave them there. Organizations either buy or sponsor the bible or something for the hotel to keep them there. I am glad they are there. Maybe you should pick one up and read a little bit next time you stop in at a hotel. God bless you. Have great night.

Man I was in Tennessee looking for work and at the hotel they had a bible in it with the preachers name in it and number, so i call him and that night I left Christianity, that was the meanest a**hole I ever Talked to, and I said to myself if this is Christianity, I want no part of it because I was a better person than most Christians in the first place
at least if i leave my number some where and say call me if you need help, I know I will help, so to answer your question, yes they should trow them out into the garbage

They are provided by the Gideons to be put there by the hotel management. It is great because it can be a help to someone who may be in need of spiritual guidance. Since this is a free country (freedom of religion), it has a right to be there. If you don't like it, you don't have to read it, but leave it for someone who might need it.

Gideons put them there, it is not a global thing though widespread and if it offends you that it's there then think of or read all the complaints from pagans about Christians not wanting pagan/Wicca books in libraries. Bible are put there with private funds and people sometime leave money in them for others in time of need. Seriously, I found a $50 with a note saying "If you don't need this, it's not for you, leave it for the person who needs it."

They should only allow Bibles in hotel rooms, as long as there are copies of the Torah, Koran & and other great religious works.

I hope one of you finds his way. How can you talk about peoples faith like this? Who are you? Someone I should send my children to? The laws of mankind and the way you should treat someone and you have the audacity to say you would urinate on it. You will see something tonight. This is a free country and you can stay in a christian motel or another down the street, maybe a Muslim motel and he would put a Quran in the drawer. God Bless
