yes, the entire heating element is made of ceramic, which means that it will seal in any moisture or excess products into your hair and the opposite happens with a metal iron. i am a hairstlist with curly hair and i use one every day and over a period of time it will help to repair your hair. be sure to dry your hair completely and to get best results straighten it in small sections. be sure to use good products.

Yes it is!!! Just make sure you get the normal black Chi NOT the Turbo Chi which I think might be red. My friend bought the Turbo model by accident and it doesn't give great results. I have had the Chi for almost two years and I would just die if it broke. However, there are other ceramic irons out there that cost less but I can't vouch for those because I have only tried the Chi. If it makes you feel any better every single salon I have been to in the last three years-ALL of the stylist used a Chi on my hair. The pros love it too.

YES! cheap straighters damage your hair and don't sraighten that well, by the time you buy all the those straightening creams for those cheap irons, you could have already bought A CHI

I was wondering the same thing, until my friend recomended this other one. Said it was just as good.
Now I use it and it's perfect.
It's the conair wet/dry straightener

But judging by what other people have said, chis are worth it.
