Yes, there is a virus you can get from the dropping of mice. If you go to the WHO website, it will describe the disease that you can get. The bubonic plague was thought to be spread by mice or rat dung.

Hantavirus works VERY quickly and your friend wouldn't be alive if they contracted it 3 months ago. However, they need to get to the doctor ASAP to get to the bottom of the health issue, hire an exterminator because...ewww, and have the home professionally cleaned to eliminate the issues with the vermin and their droppings. The mice are gross enough, but when their droppings dry and become dust-like, they are then an airborne contaminant and can be very dangerous to anyone's health.

The Bubonic plague was caused from flea bitten rats...other than that I'm not real sure why mice would give you a virus...humans aren't typically susceptible to the same types of illnesses as animals are...

Yes, hanta virus is very serious and affect your lungs to the point of filling with fluid and killing you. She should clean up the place of the mice, in a safe way of course.

I recall reading about rodent-borne virus called hanta virus. I seem to remember that it was more common in the southwestern US. If you do a google search on hanta or hantavirus, you'll find a lot of info on it.

yes, mice carry many diseases, the worst of which is the hanta virus. However, your friend does not have this disease, since it is fatal. I suggest yourfriend go to a doctor, and call an exterminator.
