Christians, Athiests, Jews, Muslims........What ever happened to judging individuals based on who they are rather than lumping everyone into a category? Not all Christians preach, not all Athiests hate everything, not all Muslims kill in the name of religion! Why do people feel the need to judge an entire group based on the actions of few?

Yeah, love, I don't blame you for feeling this way. I am atheist, and I know in my heart that not all christians/theists preach, not all muslims are terrorists, and not all atheists "hate" everything, etc.

I just ignore the majority of the "sweeping generalizations", only to answer if I feel it warrants my answer. Otherwise, they are just words to me. Most of the time, when people do that, they are just looking to anger a particular group of people. I don't or at least---try not to---do that at all with my questions and answers.

The most "rabid" few of a certain group tends to be the loudest. Something I learned from here and off-line. :-)

Psst, it's Friday night. People tend to go crazy here a bit.

People are responsible for their ideas. Religion is a belief, an idea, not an ethnicity. We talk openly about all other areas of life, so why is there this "hands off" attitude toward religion? I agree with you that we should discuss ideas openly, but religions are all inane and fall under the weight of evidence against their physical assertions. So I slam them without regret.
Atheism is not a religion. It is the belief that the religious are incorrect in what they believe.

I agree with you wholeheartedly and I try to take every chance to point that out to the questioner when they are generalizing. Sorry to say though, it seems to fall on deaf ears because I then see another question from the same person, doing the same thing. I don't know what the solution is except perhaps start ignoring those types of questions and maybe then the asker will start to realize the reason.

It's easier to lump people into categories than to check them out as individuals.

Ah, but people love to generalize...it's so much easier than being reasonable; it smooths out the complicated crinkles in life.

Thank you for pointing it out, but I've asked questions along these lines before, and I'm sure someone's going to bash you for asking something as benign as this. If so...bummer...thanks for the pertinent question though...

i understand this is going to be slightly distinct in offering you with my opinion, so please bear with me. first of all a lot of people do not quite understand the position the distinct races come from. in accordance to the Bible the 4 considerable races got here at the same time as God struck down the tower of Babel and so as that guy would not only commence over her gave them distinct languages and distinct colorings and they were forged to the 4 corners of the international. It figures then for the 4 colorings were, crimson, yellow, black, and white. He did not make an extra desirable suitable than the different, he did not placed any in can charge of the different. guy determined that the color they were replaced into the more desirable color and their language replaced into the purely one which would opt to be spoken. the following is were it receives real confusing. people chop up into smaller communities and with time their language though in protecting with a commonly used base replaced. interior of their own race factions determined that express people were no longer as sturdy as themselves and they necessary to get rid of all people who did not tournament their theory of being, both organic adequate racially or they did not stick with an similar beliefs however they both examine an similar Bible or different tome they seen their written non secular beliefs. They felt that what they believed or their epidermis color gave them skill over others. for this reason racism began, racism adversarial to oldsters and different religions. regrettably it remains occurring. My perception that racism is incorrect is that it denys the fellow or people equality of their standard lives besides and at times their lives, the equality that we've guidelines that protects their rights besides because the mandate of maximum religions that adult males are created equivalent. in case you look on the discord in the international immediately you'll discover all of us remains battling over an similar issues skill, color and faith. i do not understand if this may help, yet i wish so. sturdy success.

There is no easy cure for bigotry, unfortunately. However, you have made a good start towards finding a cure by asking a very important question.
