It really depends on the condition of the wood, but since you will be (or at least should be) placing a wire mesh foundation for your stucco on the sides of your house anyway...it shouldn't make a big difference. The only potential problem is termites invading the underlying structure...or plain old rot.

first of all you don't have to remove it but it may causes lines in the stucco....but that depends on the thickness of the Stirofoam that is applied first...then the wire mess andd then the stucco is applied...Just remember that the more you add to the extrerior walls the more recessed your window and dooor casing will be

Yes you should remove the wood siding. Don't forget the flashing (the black waterproof paper), or else you'll get leaks. Stucco is not waterproof!

Yes, remove the wood or else moister will cause blistering and staining in yer stucco.
