Then the next day go to explain to each other what we learned.

And we both could of wrote a differant book ourself.

I mean hours of studing one Chapter, look up every referrance, and looking at every word no matter how small it was.

Any one else done this before?

Have you ever just gave up ? then go a day or two later and re read that chapter and get a whole differant message then the first time, or you can add even more to what you go the first time?

Are you better off just light reading the bible, then to over deep study?

The word of God is so much more in depth than we realize.the meanings don't contradict each other they just have more and more meaning. My friends and I can go to Bible study and each come away with differant things we got from it,then when we share those things,it's like the study has even more meaning. What you learn might be differant than what someone else learned but when you share then you've both learned even more.Does that make sense.

Sure, and I've seen a verse that I know take on new meaning and understanding. I think there is a time for skimming and another for deep study, depending on the need and circumstances. Most important is prayer and asking the Spirit to show you things you need and to give you understanding. Many things in the Word can only be Spiritually revealed.

I like deep study of the Bible. Much of it is very historical. Did you guys check each other's sources? I mean, for the translations and the meanings (like the word "Love" could be completely a different word in the greek/hebrew depending on which verse).

The Bible can not be understood without the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible tells us to study to show ourselves approved unto God.
I pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal the Truth of the Scriptures to me and give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
Please ask the Father in prayer in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Different teaching for what different people need.

Not too far off from a horoscope. We take from it what we need at that time.
