It depends on the breed! Some breeds like 5-6 years and other 15-20. Best thing for a longer life span: good diet, regular check-ups, teeth cleaning, and exercise!

The average lifespan of a dog is about 13 to 15 years, with smaller breeds tending to live longer than large ones. Making sure your dog lives a long, happy life is pretty straightforward: make sure they have a good diet and plenty of exercise. Make sure your they go to the vet for regular checkups and immunizations.

Another vitally important part of a dog's well being is being happy. Dogs have been estimated to have been domesticated by humans as early as 100,000 years ago. As a result, they have a very deep bond with humans. It's not hard to prove this -when a dog's owner pets him and tells him he's a 'good dog', they dog responds with unbridled enthusiasm, tail wagging furiously. When he scolds him, he shrinks away, tail between his legs. Just like you, your dog thrives on social interaction and the affection of others -give plenty of both to your dog and they will give you the same.

Depends on the bread.

Bulldogs have one of the shorter live spans (about 7 years)

Average is about 9.5 years. Max is around 15 years. Diet and exercise can make a difference of about 5 years of life span.

Cats on average live a couple years longer than dogs.

In good health anywheres between 15-18 years. My oldest dog just turned 11 yrs old last month. I don't think he will ever slow down either. Just take it to the vet for yearly check ups and shots. Keep an eye out on the dog for anything out of the ordinary. Love and attention will always help.

This depends on the breed. Sadly, it seems that the larger the dog the lower its life expectancy turns out to be under normal circumstances. I have no scientific proof to back this up, just a lot of tears.

I cannot emphasise enough that the key to a dogs health and long lifespan is diet. The finest ingrediants in a dog food will make for a much healthier dog.
