That is too funny.
For some reason I'm a preacher magnet. I can tell that the loony coming up to me is some sort of user, but until they start speaking, I can't tell if they are going to ask me for money, ask me for sex, or tell me about Jesus. And with Christians the three are somewhat related: First they sell you Jesus, then they want your money, and then they try to hump you.
Don't go there kids! Just say no!

RE When I talk to a Christian, they remind me of life insurance salesperson, does it remind you of of that?
They keep preaching (selling, giving) after death life insurance
Of course they will tell you its FREE, but any time anything is free it most likely cost you a whole lot more that its worth.

No!
That's actually an insult to insurance salespersons.
Insurance salespersons are usually trained for their work, and this includes the knowledge that they must deceive at times, but the Christian was brainwashed and talks out of his head and babbles about mysteries and thinks he is saved, and he deceives all the time.
The insurance sales person knows he must save himself by his own effort and his own hard work.

Yes, lol. It's those who are working the belief system out of fear. It's intense, and it's such a shame, because I think it's exactly what it's meant to alleviate. I consider myself Christian, but generally do not discuss it . I believe if I am living the values, then it will naturally inspire others to do the same. I also (rather conroversially,I'm sure) do not believe that one has to be a Christian to be spiritually "sound". There are many avenues to the state of grace.Potentially big subject. But yes--it's horrible, and I wish it didn't happen. I always feel sorry for them.

On some levels I agree, no matter the inane answsers I've read, but can't we equate that to ANY organized "Religious" order?
I'll assume,,,no,,, I'll state, that the act of trying to CONVERT, is selfish, and often ego driven,,, or at the very least, an attempt to gather a majority,,,,BUT,,, the "believers" no matter the sect,,,usually "believe",,, at least in the short term.
Certainly you can exercise your freedom of choice, and even the right to ignore,,,,But at the very basic level do that with some level of respect for the belief systems that others follow or hold to as,,, what for them, might be,,,THE WAY.???
I have been on this planet for a long time, have studied cultures and "religions" for a large part of that time, have a doctorate in theology, have preached, counseled, advised, and still want to be open enough to respect that others have a comfort zone they are encased in,,,even if only for the moment.
Using your example,,,and meaning no offense,,, I SHOP, for car insurance. DO I buy the one the Gecko advertises, or the one that says "you're in good hands"?????
It's all about choice, and respect that CHOICE is truly our greatest freedom.
If you are approached, and can be respectful, you allow another to express their view/ belief. You don't strictly have to consent to become a follower of anothers choice.
Rev. Steven
A brief aside, and an example that a Deity takes on various forms and names.
I spent some time in Indonesia. I was able to view a town, on my journey, from a distance, and saw a group pr RED clad monks in front of a temple. At the entrance to that temple was a large statue of Bhudah. The Monks were shoving each other laughing and putting their bare feet up to the bare feet of the statue, and when I reached them I asked why?
One who spoke English said,,, "We are comparing the size of our feet to the feet of GOD,,,, No one has a bigger foot than GOD."

maybe some of them haven't found the treasure
so they don't really know what they are talking about?
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field.
When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy
he went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Haven't met but four or five people that were actually Christians.
You know, actually doing things that identify one as a Christian.
No, I'm not judging(just stop it, judge police), just using the God given ability to compare the actions of 'Christians', with the written record of Jesus Christ, and his followers.
I re-iterate this is not judging.

You can ask them why do they call their Savior Jesus when there's no way possible that could have been his real name. There was no J in the Greek, Hebrew or Latin languages and it was the last letter added to the English language. If they don't know the real name of their own Savior then how can they expect you to listen to them
