Hey there. Well to let you know I am on birth control. Each month when I reach the last pill, within 24 hrs my period starts. It's been about 72 hrs, and I have spotted once, so lightly infact..I wasn't sure it was even blood! My urine is running a normal color with the exception of once finding a tiny "blood clot" in it. Is it possible that I am pregnant? Any advice/information on what to look for *signs wise* of being pregnant? Personally I don't want to run out and buy a pregnancy test when all it could be is an irregularity, however it does concern me considering it's always textbook. Thanks in advance.

If you are having sex, you can be pregnant. Birth control is not 100%. Very sore breasts was always my first clue. I would get the test. Nine dollars at CVS.

not necessarily. ANY and I do mean ANY amount of blood no matter how little is considered menstruating or at least thats what my OBGYN claims when I had similar problems. Are there any issues going on in your life which may have caused any amount of stress. stress and depression effect your periods alot. if the anser is no there are new home pregnancy tests available that can tell you if you are pregnant within 72 hours of a missed period. Just relax, calm yourself, take a test if possible otherwise if you do not get it in the next few days then go see your doctor and get a blood test done, in the meantime if you absolutly MUST have sex use a condom otherwise you jeopardize the accuracy of the test. hope things work out for you.

The longer you are on birth control, the lighter your periods get. If you don't bleed within another 48 hours, go to the clinic where you got your prescription for a check up. Your hormone level could be too high for your size/weight.

It is highly unlikely that you are pregnant if you have been on the pill for longer than 3 months. Unless, that is, you took antibiotics that made the pill ineffective or missed more than one dose by more than 2 hours.

How long have you been on the pill? Doctors advise as well as the drug manufacturers that you take a break from the pill after being on it for 5 years. Take a six month to year break then go back on. If you are having unprotected sex--yes it is possible that you are pregnant; however, it sounds like the little that went on constitutes your period for the month...occasionally, what you described can and will be a period....go figure...

I am 38 weeks pregnant and was on the pill for 6 years and has cervical cancer!!! I was 2 days late and the test was positive! Get A First Response! And If you want to be pregnant GOOD LUCK! But I wouldn't take any more pills until I found out it can cause miscarriage!

I found myself pregnant with my son after taking birth control pills religiously for 2 years. Turns out that an anti-biotic (for a sinus infection) was the culprit! Well, my story has a happy ending. I had a healthy, handsome baby boy (born at 36 weeks) he was just a little impatient. I never took birth control pills again. He was my third child. (I was forced to have a hysterectomy shortly after he was born, due to a benign uterine tumor.) All in all, I consider myself to be extremely blessed to have conceived this "surprise" baby.

I understand your concern. While on the Ortho Evra patch my Periods were precisely on time. And I was very conscious of using the patch exactly correct. In Nov 2004 I took my patch off on Sunday morning for my 'off patch week" and menstrual cycle. It didn't come...for one day, two days, three days. Finally on Thursday of that week I decided to buy a preg-test, just to rule it out. Afterall...once in a while women skip a period. WELL...two pink lines stared back at me within 30 seconds of peeing on the stick. I was definetely pregnant. I'm glad I took the test because if I would have just chalked it up as a fluke missed period, I would have just slapped another patch on the next sunday morning, putting my baby at risk by exposing her to those hormones.

SO...yes, you could be pregnant. Take a Preg-test before you start your next week of active pills. Hey...$9 at Wallgreens can buy a whole lot of peace of mind.

Good luck

It's possible that you are. Are you bleeding heavily, or spotting, or "barely spotting?" I would say if at this point you are 72 hrs late, come monday morning if you haven't gotten your period (because you'll be 5 days late at that point) than perhaps think of purchasing a pregnancy test. Just being 3 days late I wouldn't. Goodluck, and let us know!

Wait another 72 hours before you start the panic button. Yes you may be pregnant or your body could be changing. It's like that even with textbook cases.

If you are on birth control because of some medical reason, then discard what I am about to say. If you are taking BC because you don't want to get pregnant, then you are a moron. Just use a condom, its the most effective way. I know it takes all of like 10 seconds to put on but you can get past that 10 seconds. Grow up. If you are pregnant, then you deserve to be.

usually when i thought i was i took a preg test, then period came shortly later. don't get too worked up. but i've had times where i was preg too. just take the test. don't rely on the pill soley or any birth control for that matter. if you really dont want to get preg than i would use a back up method everytime. i couldnt take the suspense of not knowing. good luck.
