Because we sin! Its that simple, a lot of times people just assume that if your a christian, and you mess up, then your just a hypocrite! But we all mess up! The christians who claim to be perfect, they are the hypocrites! And the Christians who say they dont mess up, they are hypocrites, your one, and so is everyone! We alllllllll sin! And sure, we should all do that! Everyone, no matter what you are! But we dont, because we are selfish, its a sinful nature that everyone in the world shares!

You're generalizing. Not all Christians are selfish, nor do all have luxury cars and big houses. I'm Christian, have a car that has 4 tires and goes....live in a rented house and struggle to pay just my basic monthly bills. Whatever my state of finances, I always give to the church, to all the many organizations that I know help the poor. I realize that all I have comes from God and I share not from excess but from my basic need. I'm sure there are many out there like me. Whoever painted your picture is showing their bigotry, bias, and discrimination because its most of America these days, not just Christians. Middle class is all but gone, its rich and poor now.

The last time I checked, the typical Christian did not have a big house, or a luxury car.
And what makes you think that Christians don't "spend their money to help others"?
My church -- the Catholic Church -- helps more needy people than any nongovernmental organization on earth. That's not an opinion; it's a fact.
No offense, but your "question" seemed more like a lecture -- and you posted it without bothering to get your facts straight.

Does EVERY Christian you know have big houses, luxury cars, and a weekly trip to church? Have you asked every Christian you know of if they have or have not spent money helping others?
You don't have to be poor and needy if you're a Christian do ya?
There's haves and have nots in every area of life. The haves are the ones that usually---I say usually------spread it around. Tight-wad, selfish people come in all shapes, sizes, and economic backgrounds.

Really? What about Lottie Moon, who gave away every scrap of food she had and starved to death herself so she could feed poor Chinese peasants and children? What about the countless other missionaries and aid workers who have given their lives for the people they served? For that matter, what about the Christian teachers and professors who choose to accept less than a third of the salary they could make at a public school or university, just for the sake of providing children with a Christian education? How about the pastors who work for nothing, and hold a second job at a factory just to feed their families? I know many dozens or even hundreds of people like that. You'd really better spend a little more time getting to know people, before you make such sweeping generalizations. You might be ashamed of thinking such things, if you took the time to look into the matter.

Want to impress me? :-) Spend all that extra money on a charity, and make sure charity names the church that gave them a large amount of money. That will impress me and possibly makes me want to check out the church's website, etc.
All that money could have gone to Salvation Army. There ARE some homeless people around here! :-/
Ideas on which charities a church can look into: Salvation Army. Human Services (they may provide a list of charities that help local poor people get jobs, and these charities ALWAYS need money to help locals get the training they need), Child Protection Services ('nuff said), to name a few. Hope I helped.

I think this a very poor stereotyping of Christians. Not all Christians drive nice cars and live in luxury houses.....you are making a judgment on a very small percent of Christians.

Ah, yeah, Christians ARE suppose to spend their money to help others. There are many who do. There are those in between. We don't hear about those guys because they are humble enough not to shout out about being rich and Christian.
Oh, Jesus doesn't hate the rich, but he did ask them to give everything up to follow him. It's hard to let go of riches. It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, right?
(Oh, Jesus wasn't talking about a sewing needle, but it's still quite difficult for a camel to go through the one he was talking about, though not impossible).
Anyways, we shouldn't just get mad at them. They're people too. We should pray that they have a change of heart towards generosity.

The simple reason is, many "Christians" aren't really Christians. Many believe that simply "going to church" makes them a Christian and makes them look good within their communities and so they do so. This is what happens in most of those cases.
In other cases, its simply a matter of getting further away from God. Christians are nowhere close to perfect, and they sin also, which includes things like greed, selfishness, etc.
I hope this answers your question! :)
