First of all you need to know you have a male and female. When the breeding cycle comes around the male will have a blue cere (nose) and the female will have a pinkish brown color.
They need a nest box. A little house of wood. The male will explor the house first and than will begin to breed when he is sataified the house is safe. The female sits on the eggs all the time except when she comes out to feed or poop, than the male will sit on them to give her a break.
The eggs will hatch in 18 to 22 days to hatch. Always leave the babies with the parents for a week or so. Give the parents soft foods to eat and feed the babies. Water soaked ceral or salad and veggies. If you want to hand feed the babies you can pull them at a week or so but even if this makes them excellent pets it is a real job. The babies need the parents to feed them because the babies are hatched without the digestion enzimes in their bodies and they get that when the parents regergatate to feed the babies

Do you know if you have a male and a female ? A male will have a blue band across it's Nose and a female will have a pink or dark purple band..If you notice the female at the bottom of the cage a lot you might want to get her a nest box and nesting material so she can lay her eggs. It takes about 17 days or so for the eggs to hatch. Yes the mother will sit on the eggs. She should also feed them without any help from you..BUT if she doesn't you can buy feeding formula from a pet store

I used to raise parakeets for sale long time ago... You must understand that parakeets are social birds. In their natural habitat in Australia they nest in large flocks. Hence highly improbable that just one pair will nest (but not unheard of) They also need a nesting box suitable for parakeets---not just any box. Other considerations are: 1. you need a viable pair--male and female (Male has blue ceres(nose) female, brownish (unless they are albinos), 2. Good food/water supply--most pet shop seeds will do. Provide them greens, lettuce, etc., 3. keep them away from cats and traffic. The eggs hatch between 19 and 21 days. Both parents take turn sitting on eggs (it's been so long I am not sure they both sit--but for sure mom does) Good luck!

Parakeets usually are pretty good about taking care of them self and their eggs. If you have a male and a female, she will start to spend alot of time in her nesting box. She will also leave alot of very loose droppings at the bottom of the cage. It takes about 16 to 18 days for the eggs to hatch. The parents will take care of them until they eat on their own.Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and seed, also greens......good luck

They need nesting materials, first of all, otherwise they may not even try to mate. the mother will need to sit on the eggs and it will take two or three weeks to hatch. the babies can be fed finely ground grains or seeds mixed with water. you can also feed them a mixture of corn meal, egg and water.
