Does anyone know the reason why he could be doing this,as his claws are making marks on my door.

My cat is 5 years old and still runs around the house like a chicken with his head cut off. He also is neutered. I got him done when he was l 4 months old. He is just playing.
If you want him to stop take a spray bottle, and when he goes up there spray him.Cats hate water. He will stop because he knows if he keeps going up there he will get sprayed.

He might see something reflected in the glass and the movement is attracting his attention. He might have learned that windows are interesting to look out of and he's curious.
You could block off the window with some paper to see if he stops, or you could make a point of helping him get up there to satisfy his curiosity. Wait til next time you catch him, then get the stepladders out and let him climb up to have a look. You'll feel daft doing it, but so what.
Chances are he'll change his mind anyway and wander off pretending he wasn't really interested.

You neutered your cat so his sex drive is out of control so they are more active then they should be but he will get over it just take your time with him and let him know that you care.

He sees this as his escape to the outside world. This is one way he can check what is going on outside and a sign that he craves the freedom of being able to wander.

You didn't say how old he is. I have three siblings at 8 months (1 boy/2 girls) who are making me INSANE -- climing my armoires, opening every drawer in the house, pulling out the contents and running around the house with them....
Because he can!

If there is a window, maybe he likes the sun. Or maybe he wants to see what is outside the door. Or maybe he likes being high (tehehehehehe) ^-^

he probly wants to see the action outside.. my cat loves my room because i have the largest window and he likes high views

He thinks its fun. Spray that thing with dog pee. He won't get up there any more.
