The spell-check is not RELIABLE. There are mistakes in documents that the spell-check in Yahoo!® Answers doesn't catch. The reason why that is, is because the spell-check in Yahoo!® Answers has a small dictionary. A more reliable spell-check program, that has a larger dictionary is below:

In South Africa, we speak a form of English that started from the British a hundred years ago. Proper English here is different from American English, which most of our PC's default to, so we get spellcheck mistakes all over the place! Check out what your PC's default is, that may be part of the problem. Also, as language changes and grows, spellcheckers become outdated, and there might be several alternatives for the same word.

What "Spell Check" are you using? Spell checking does not correct for grammatical errors. For example, the spell checker on the Google toolbar, does not know the difference between their, and there. It also does not take into account for regional dialect. Yall.

No, but it only checks for words in the dictionary, not if it is used in the correct tense or the correct usage.
