The first thing you have to understand, and make your peace with, is that this country is built on long-lived and very profitable industries. Those industries are headed and run by wealthy people who contribute to the campaigns of politicians who, in turn, create and vote on legislation to maintain the industries. Most of us are conditioned to believe that the elimination of certain industries (aside from recent additions such as entertainment, real estate, etc.) would throw us into financial ruin and destroy America as we know it. Perhaps it would, perhaps not (slavery was one of our founding industries). Until our fuel industry can find a way to replace the profits made from the refining and sale of fossil fuels with profits from the harnessing and sale of free energies (thereby nullifying the concept behind
free energy) the Powers-that-be will continue to protect our right to destructively consume our natural resources and create tons of non-biodegradable, hazardous materials as by-products.

Yes, the powers that be could not possibly stop free energy from entering the marketplace. Of course, if it were free, it wouldn't have any place in the marketplace. Marketplaces are for buying and selling.
If there is a "free" source of energy out there, all it takes is one leak by one person and the internet is flooded with the plans and no one, one even these mysterious powers that be, can put that back in the box.

Free energy? no such thing. Energy cant be created or destroyed. It has to coem froms omewhere. ANd that somewhere will take money to get and build and get it and maintaine the lines and whatnot. As for polluting... it cost to much for goverment to make all non polluting plants and for privvate companys way to exspencive. Nuclear power is probly the cheapest and cleanest but it leaves so much nuclear waste behind that doesnt deteriate for thousands and thousands of years. If u want clean plants become the next billgates and make ur own and even that wont be enough money to make it all pollution free.

Well, when all of the oil is gone. Then some new technology will be parceled out to the world a little at a time, so the oil corporations can maximize shareholder value, and get obscenely rich.
The only thing we can do here in America is to use the same inventive spirit as the pioneers of old: and that is to discover, with our own money and ingenuity, alternative energy sources. For example, an individual here in America uses old deep fryer fat oil to run his car after he processes it himself. Then we can tell the oil corporations to go to hell.

There no such thing as a free lunch. If there was, don't you think the "powers that be" would either be selling it or taxing it.
Inherently safe nuclear reactors are the only practical answer to the energy crisis. The problem of spent fuel could be solved with reprocessing.

Free energy is a fantasy perpetuated by people who have no understanding of engineering and thermodynamics.
If free energy was real, someone could get rich selling the machines, why haven't they done so?
Enter the conspiracy theory, the adult version of 'the dog ate my homework'.
