If you move her bed to the room you are in the most that would help a lot. She would spend more time nursing her new litter and more time with you.

You might consider getting her a big playpen with a top and confining her there for the time being. That will also keep the babies from wandering off and getting stepped on. That's what I did for the first couple of weeks. I occasionally let the mother out to relax and run around, but otherwise she stayed with the babies. Be sure to put the kitty litter in the cage for the mommy.

Okay, she's really bonded to you, and she's nervous about being a mommy. She's plainly telling you she wants you with her. You're going to have to stay in the room with her as much as possible until she relaxes. Make sure you tell her what a good girl she is when she's taking care of the babies, and encourage her as much as possible. She's probably a little overwhelmed with everything, so you really are going to have to help her as much as possible. The kittens need to eat very frequently, so if there's any way you can camp out in their room, that would be best. You'll have try to sleep in there, if at all possible. That's so lovely how much she trusts you. She's saying " I'm not sure I like what's happening to me here... Hey, don't you leave me to deal with this by myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come back here. I need help!"

My cat Furball did this when she was giving birth. She wouldn't stay on the floor to give birth to them unless I was down there and since I didn't want blood and kitten all over my bed I had to sit there. My advice would be to maybe sit there with her and then gradually sit there less often with her, and eventually maybe she'll catch on? If she isn't feeding them which also happened ot me and I ended up having some kittens die cuz I didn't know she wasn't feeding them :( then I suggest you go out and buy evaporated milk and feed them with a medicine dropper or something... it'll be a pain but I raised one of my cats like that and he turned out to be a fat healthy cat.

My mommy cat did that for a few days after her litter was born. I would sit in there with her for a few hours and love on her while she nursed them. She should get to where she needs you less and devotes more time to kitties. GIve her time and be patient.

just give her time and attention, she'll get the hang of it. talk to her and give her lots of petting, and let her know how proud you are of her. i've been there with new mommy cats in the past. do spend as much time with her and the babies as you can, and reassure her that all is well. let her see you admiring and appreciating each one, but dont pick them up for a few days. if she lets you, you can gently pet them now, while they nurse.
good luck! its so awesome when they open their eyes and start toddling around! :0}

you will need to spend a couple hours in the whelping room with them so momma "gets" how important they are to you maybe all your spare time for a week or so..my new momma dog is the same way, just now she tried to stop me from typing to go tell her how great her babies are! this will work. you gotta put in the time with her. and comfine them when your out. good luck.

my siamese did that, would have her kittens only if i was there. she would walk after me and drop a kitten. when done i put them all in a box that i moved around with me. ittook about two days to calm her down enough to care for kittens alone. when the babies cry she should go to them.
