I was in cap for years! Its an auxiliary of the USAF that focuses on search and rescue and aerospace education. It also builds leadership qualities and self confidence
There should be a state web page and it would have the listings of all the states squadrons. The meetings are usually once a week for two hours. There are weekend camp outs once in a well known as a bivouac. There are also encampments during the summer. I went to fort drum twice.
I know by joining cap and earning the billy Mitchell award you can get a higher rank when you enlist in the military.
