she likes to sit at my feet while i type but she crawls back to the wires, presumably for the warmth of the computer fan. i'm afraid that she will chew the wires and be electricuted. can i shove boxes back there? will my computer be affected by the lack of air circulation if i block off the area?

I had to laugh at Rebekah's answer! A squirt bottle around a computer! Brilliant! Hey if you don't wish to ruin your computer what I would do is take zip ties, zip the wires together and then screw them to your wall or desk up off the floor. If you go to Lowes or Home Depot they have in the electrical department wire ties that have holes in the end so you can do just this. I wouldn't worry too much about the hair in the computer as long as you clean it every 6 months or so (which you should do even if you don't have a dog).

Her shedding fur can clog the computer fan. Also, she may chew wires..very dangerous. When she gets back there try this:

1) dont yell, just authoritatively say "No" and physically move her.
2) keep a spray bottle handy and spritz her with water and say "no"

Try putting ties on the cords, and raising them up off the floor.
If you only block the wires, it should not affect your computer.
I had the same problem with cats. Only cats are worse, furballs on computers. Yuck. LOL

If you don't mind a small mess sprinkle a small amount of cayenne pepper on the floor near the back of the computer. You won't have to leave it there for long because the smell of it will make your cat not want to be so close to the back of the computer.

i'd in simple terms evaluate the source, and allow it bypass. of direction this lady is conscious actual no longer some thing about dogs education, so who cares what she thinks about the way you prepare your dogs? Now you comprehend, so next time meet her on the door, take the presents (such because the rawhide) out of her fingers, thank her and positioned them someplace she won't be able to actual locate them to provide for your dogs. and per chance positioned a "do no longer open" connect up your dogs crate (assuming you cant positioned it someplace that isn't actual available.) (each body is frequently harder to coach than the dogs :o))

My cat did that & nearly got strangled when he got caught up in the wires, freaks out, tries to bolt so fast. Lucky I was home.

I'd suggest taping the cords up behind your desk, or tying them off so they're not so easily accessible...you can tie them & then tape them up...you could put a small barrier fence around your desk, lol

:) Good luck
