The last time I checked, this is the Religion and Spirituality section of Yahoo Answers.

Do they think there is a gun up to their head making them believe? Obviously not or they would not be putting my beliefs down.

No one is forced to believe in my beliefs. They are what they are.

I don't say that an atheist is forcing their beliefs on me, because I am secure in knowing what I believe.

Some people's faith or lack there of is so flimsy that they become insecure when challenged.

You're not forcing your views on them if you post in the proper forum; obviously, your question does appear in the "All Categories" front page, but since it is intended for the Religion and Sprituality section, no one should take offense at it merely because you asked the question.

Perhaps some of the atheists who have protested your posting are merely reactionary; I have to admit that while I am not an atheist, I do get rather tired of some of my acquaintences trying to convert me because they see it as their duty to make me see that my beliefs are "wrong" and they must "save" me from myself. After a while, ANY discussion of religion can make an atheist cringe and look for the nearest exit, because it can (and often does) lead to confrontations no one really wants.

The other thing may be the content or tone of your message; I don't know what else you've posted, but if your question in turn attacks the beliefs of others, even if it is in the R&S category, someone may take offense (calling an atheist stupid because he doesn't believe in your god doesn't make your point and won't convince them to even consider your beliefs; it only makes them angry and more inclined to laugh at you and your faith -- that you may actually have so little faith that you must drum up support for it to feel right, perhaps) I'd be careful there, too.

Some people feel threatened by other's asking them about faith. When people feel threatened they become offended. Maybe pointing out that faith is a choice just like being an athiest is a choice. People understand choices. You are right that no one is forced to believe what you believe. Another reason may be that some people find faith and religion to be a very personal thing that they don't wish to share their beliefs with others.

Because there are none more intolerant than those who cry "intolerance" the loudest. Regarding your comment that this IS the Religion and Spirituality section of Answers, a good heathen named Voltaire said "Common sense is not so common." Besides, some people HATE the fact that people of faith even exist, never mind have a public forum. There are atheists who are sincere, and others who are "haters"-a lot like many who call themselves Christian, I'd say. You just keep demonstrating true Christian tolerance. We are told that we WILL suffer persecution and that's OK. Love and Peace. Buttercup

I'm not forced to believe your beliefs by reading your questions. I'm secure in my beliefs, therefore it doesn't fluff my feathers when someone asks a question wanting an answer about what Christians believe when obviously they aren't a Christian. It doesn't bother me when JV's, Muslims, Wiccans, etc. ask something. It's debate. What's annoying is when hateful, infantile "people" demean other people, I don't care what religion or belief they have, and are rude and childish.

A lot of people say a lot of things because they dont have the answers. I met an atheist recently, on line, and he could not tell me why he was one. I was also asking questions only and I did not get one straight answer. I am confused sometimes by religious ideology, but why do atheists not answer questions if they really believe in what they believe in. I have not received a straight reply yet. I hope you find one.

Good question!!!
Athiests want to be affirmed in there beliefs. Just as gays, lesbians, and bisexuals want to affirmed in theres. For that matter so do those addicted to any kind of sin. The word sin alone is a massive non-affirmation.
The only thing that I can say to affirm a person who believes things to be right that I believe to be wrong is that the same God who loves me loves them and that while I cannot affirm their behavior or beliefs I can love them anyway and respect them and ask them to do the same for me.

Because they've learned to use the new age psycho-babble that the politically correct people in this country have crafted in order to twist truth to suit whatever their emotional needs are.

It's not like you're the bad guys in the movie The Clockwork Orange where they took the lead character and strapped him in a chair with his eyelids taped open while they played non-stop behavior modification films to remold his beliefs and personality.

If people hate to be preached to, why do they go to the "Religion and Spirituality" section of Yahoo Answers?
If some people hate to be preached to because of their guilty conscience, why do they go to the "Religion and Spirituality" section of YA?

Is it like a moth being attracted to a flame?

This is one of your earlier posts...doesn't this say your preaching.
Make up your mind if your preaching or not.
You obviously have a Problem with Atheists, get over it. We don't care what you believe, your God is a fictitious character to us.

because when you ask questions (especially those faith based ones) people start thinking and someone with strong beliefs one way doesnt want to be swayed another way to think something else. Therefore it is probably offensive to them even though you are just meaning it innocently. (I suppose at least) People take things wrong ways sometimes and sometimes people just like arguing.
Asking faith based questions isnt imposing your beliefs on someone it is just asking questions that you want asnwers to. Nothing wrong with that,Ask and you will recieve. (didnt say you will recieve just the good, its the good and the bad my friend!)

thats the thing, By knowling God's love in jesus we have blessed assurance , but with atheist, thy have no securiy except in themselves. Its like pouring salt on a cut. They dont know what they want to feel so they stay withdrawn in their cages, instead of seeing the light. they are afraid to se what the truth is, because all the see is themselves, and thye think their views ae correct . Saan has lied to them and lets them hide in the dark, and lash ou at anything that is true. they would rather accept a lie because its moe natural to them. They ae blided from what is true.
