Feed your Rottie Nutro Natural or Nutro Max dry dog food for large breed dogs. The coat shine this food produces is unbelievable, due to the correct balance of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids it contains. People tend to believe that if a little is good then more is better, but when it comes to Fatty Acid supplements, the correct ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 is what is most important.

You should see a remarkable change in the hair coat in 4-6 weeks. Follow the link below to the Nutro website. They will mail you some coupons to apply towards the purchase price of the food, and every 11th bag of food is free.

Rottweiler Coat

Don't bathe him more than 2 times a month, which could lead to dry skin and oil. When you bathe him, just use a shampoo that focuses on the coat. Scrub deep down, and rinse thoroughly with clear water... Before you rinse, if he's in a tub with water, pour the soapy water on his coat and give him a massage. Once he's rinsed off, dry him with a nice towel. rub back and forth, with and against his fur, which seems to work for my puppy... and dries quicker. Brush him, and get a "nit comb" (for lice) or a flea comb, and comb him with that once he has been brushed... you will be amazed at how many clumps of fur the brush missed! Lift up his fur, and comb that too... get the undercoat, AND the outer coat. You can take a blow dryer, and put it on COOL. Warm or hot may burn him, too much heat can make his coat kinda "frizz" or "pop"... since the coat is trying to protect his skin from burning. Take the dryer and "dry" your face and ear. If it's too hot for you, it will be too hot for your dog. Bush him as you dry. Good luck!

My min pin steal eggs from my chickens' nests. I bet he eats 3 or 4 a day and his coat glistens. Really, he is so shiny. He has terrible flaltulence, but that is another story.

A friend of mine swears that giving their dog one egg per week keeps the coat shiny

I don't know if its true with dogs (though I bet it is) but with cats, if you feed them cans of wet food their coat will be shiny within 4 or 5 days. Its the oils they use to preserve the food's wetness. Good luck to you!

Motor oil contains chemicals that absorb into the skin and start destroying the liver. Not a good idea!

I always say that if you have to supplement your dog food, then the food is not good enough. The first or second ingredient should be meat. My dogs food is 24% protein and 20% fat. They have the shinest coats!

Give it a good quality food. You can also add fish oil to the food to help make the coat shiny.

Eggs really do work! It's some kind of chemical in them. In the old days women used to use them to keep their hair shiny. So I don't see why it wouldn't work on a dog.

I give my Rottweiler 2 raw eggs mixed into his food per week. Works beautifully.
