How come all Christian Churches accept and recognize divorce?
Jesus forbid divorce in Matthew 5:31-32. The Catholic Church is the only church left that does not recognize or allow divorce. Many Christians have gone against Jesus! Catholics are faithful to the words of Jesus.

Divinescribe: Jesus is very literal: "From the begginning it was not so". "whoever marries a divorced woman commits Adultery."
Divorce + re-marriage = Adultery.

religionpo... If they got divorced, they are NOT devout Catholics. They can't recieve communion if they re-marry and would need an annulment.

Because most Christians are ignorant of what is written in the Bible; but hey, if the Sabbath law is done away with, why not throw the rest of the book out too!

I personally think that divorce is evil, and I am a evangelical christian. Although, the Bible does allow for divorce in two cases one is an affair, the other is if you are married to an unbeliever, and they divorce you. If your spouse cheats on you...you are allowed to divorce them, and remarry. The person who did the cheating is not supposed to remarry.

1 Corinthians 7:15 "Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace." Read whole section starting with verse 10.

Matthew 5:32
" But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery."

This is why many churches don't say that divorce is a sin, because the Bible states that in some cases one half of the married couple is not at fault. The person who has an affair pays the full weight of the sin, not the victim of this behavior.

All that said, I believe that this truth has opened divorce up to saying that all divorce is alright with God, but really each situation should be taken into account.

Hey, if you aren't a christian you are not tied down to any christian rules or ideas about divorce. but if you are then you should follow what Jesus said about the subject. If a woman and a man are of different religous views the believer should stay with the non believer because she will be a testimony to her family. Also the only good excuse before God for why a husband and wife get a divorce is due to infidelity, sexually cheating I mean. But God would prefer that you reconcile your differences one to another. That is a paraphrase of the verses from the gospels. But that is the general principle so I hope this helps and I hope your marriage gets better or ends well at least

Because most non-Catholic (save the Orthodox and various Eastern Churches) do not teach that marriage is sacramental. It is a different world view, not specifically that they ignore the Bible but rather it is read in a completely different light that is different than what was passed down through the Apostolic teachings.

The idea in the West can be traced back to Luther and the other reformers.

Why do most Christian Churches ignore the teaching on Divorce?
How come all Christian Churches accept and recognize divorce?

Which is it? all or most?

Not all churches do this, Remember, Moses who was a friend to god, told the nation of israel, that they could divorce wih papers, But God said, unless the spouse has been unfaithfull, hey should not divorce. Alot of churches have a hardness of heart, and the people of that church that one can divorve for practically anything. Just because one may have been unfaithful, and adultered themself, doesnt mean they should divorve righ then, they should alk it out, ge counseling and figurwe out how to save their marriage. Most peopl, are not wanting to forgive and save their marriages and thats why you probally assume, people or churches feel this way .its really complicated for alot of churches only because they let it b. god said, what he jopined together noi man should take apart.

I'm not sure why I'm even answering this:

the marital unfaithfulness discussed in the synoptic gospel of Matthew speaks of an ideological divorce. In other words, if your heart is no longer in the marriage, you are unfaithful, so according to Jesus, you can be divorced.

Jesus often talked about the Pharisees and how they would follow the letter of the Law, and ignore the Spirit. Spirit moves in your heart, not in the scrolls.

Many people in all the different Christian Churches do not think it is necessary to follow the Ten Commandments anymore. They rely very heavily on the grace of God in Jesus Christ.

This is a tempting position to espouse. However, the truth is that the Law was given by God through Moses. Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ. What this means to me is that the law is still the standard and the basis of all righteousness. Christ only expanded on the Law by saying that not only is murder a sin but the anger that leads to murder is a sin. Not only is adultery a sin but lustful thoughts are also sin. In Jesus we finally find the humility to say yes I am a sinner because it is impossible to be good. Only God is good. And in Jesus Christ I find my righteousness and begin to practice what I know to be right and depart from what I know to be wrong. If I fail I don't defend it I confess it and ask for forgiveness. In this I am at peace with God and my own soul.

Jesus forbid divorce EXCEPT for unfaithfulness.
I don't believe you want to neglect the divorcees who fell in this catagory.
This shouldn't prevent them from forgiveness and entrance into heaven,

What needs to be understood is teaching on the sacred values of the vows and commitment of marriage. If you teach what it takes to make it work and why God hates divorce, maybe many will take the vows SERIOUSLY and only take the steps neccessary whan they can be responsible.

My step-brother and his wife were recently divorced and they are both devout Catholics. To say the Catholic church does not allow divorce is to put something in their control that they have no control over. Also, if Catholics were faithful to the words of Jesus then you would realize that salvation comes from the sacrifice of Christ and that it cannot be obtained through works. Why are there seven sacraments in the Catholic church when Jesus only instituted two?

the Bible also says not to gossip or backbite or lie or cheat or steal or break any other commandment. Yet God, by His infinite mercy and grace forgives all of us for our waywardness and our failings. The Bible says "alll have sinned and cannot reach God's glory". Jesus said God allowed divorce because of "the hardness of our hearts", though He desired people to stay married. We have free will and all of us have failed, but when we repent (which means to turn away from sin and not do it anymore) God forgives us and draws us back to Himself. Look at the woman at the well, she had 5 husbands previously, and was living with another man, but Jesus forgave her and told her to stop sinning and do what is right. The Catholic church probably would never have accepted her, and many "Christian churches" would have rejected her, but Jesus didn't.
