This is just my understanding of the burial right. A person placed in a tomb after being oiled, perfumed and wrapped. That person would remain in the tomb while their body breaks down, the tomb was opened in about a year, and their bones placed in a small box. I *think* that box was buried. The tomb would be used again. This particular tomb was brand new.
The women went to the tomb to prepare the body after the Sabbath because it was getting to be evening time before the Sabbath and there is a rule about touching a dead body on the Sabbath - therefore Jesus did not have his body annointed and wrapped properly.
Does that make any sense?

Christ died at 3 PM. Sundown, (6 PM) marks the beginning of a new day...In this case the Sabbath, when no work was allowed. Jewish tradition, to this day, states that a body should be interred within 24 hours. Given the short amount of time, since Joseph had to obtain permission from Pilate to take the body, lest it be thrown into the valley of Ghenna, there would not have been much time to bathe the body and properly prepare it.
The tomb of Joseph of Arimathea is cited as a "new tomb" in which no body had lain before. Because of the rocky ground, most tombs of that day were much like caves with two compartments (rooms) The first in which the bodies were prepared for burial and the second, containing :"shelves" where they were laid. After a year the remains were placed in an ossuary, a bone box and buried. The tomb could then be reused.
A life-size replica of a Jewish tomb from that era is at the Franciscan Monastery in Washington D.C.
Given the weight of a rock which would cover the entrance to a tomb, not only Joseph and Nicodemus (John 19:39) moved the corpus of Christ but they probably had some more help which is not mentioned in scripture.
Scripture then records that Christ rose "on" (not "after") the third day.

It was the preparation day, normally that would mean Friday, except that year, Friday was a high sabbath, the religious calender (lunar month), not the several calender. A high sabbath was treated the same as a weekly sabbath, so as sun down was approaching, Joseph of Arimathaea, a counselor; went to Pilate to beg the body of Jesus. &c. That year the passover was on Wensday, and the 7 day of unleavened bread begins the day after Passover. Jseus was taken Passover night, on the first day of unleavened bread He was crusifiedm an died, plased in the tomb until saterday night, He was raised by God on our saterday night just befor dawn on sunday morrning. He was to be in the graive like Johna was in the belly of the fish, 3 days and 3 nights. Using Gen 1:5 evening (night), and morning (day) as our refferance, lets count backwards and see if I am corect. Sunday night (our saterday night), Sabbath (our saterday), Sabbath night ( our Friday night), Friday, Friday night ( our Thursday night), Thursday, the day that Christ died. If Christ had died on Friday as most beleive then He would have only been in he grave 2 days and 2nights. A little short of the 3 day mark. High Sabbath ( John 19:31)

the tale of Lazarus and the wealthy guy isn't meant to be taken in besides actually--that is an allegory depending on the easy perception of the Jews on the time. The 'hell' spoken of the following is "hades" it really is the grave. no human being contained in the grave can lookup into heaven nor can they communicate with absolutely everyone at the same time as useless even if the Jews had in many cases occurring some pagan teachings that 'hell' had 2 cubicles the position human beings ought to communicate with one yet another. the completed tale became to expose the Pharisees that spoiling themselves with money at the same time as they skipped over the adverse would land them in an fairly distinct position than they became hoping at the same time as they died!
