Our ancestors looked at the darkness beyond their campfires and saw that it was filled with frightening things--bears, serpents, lions, etc. They saw lightning and heard thunder, and had no explanations for them. Earthquakes shook the ground and they did not know why. It would not have taken long for the strong to exploit the weak, to offer them protection from these things in exchange for, say, the best portions of the hunt. The shaman or witch doctor or high priest had only to proclaim that he had a special knowledge of the invisible gods that caused the thunder and lightning, or that he could talk to the spirits of the animals and make them behave, and with some clever acting and special rituals, the people would believe him, and a religion would be born.
They still believe it, too, leading me to think that humans haven't really evolved much since then. Many of them still want to believe that there are demons in the darkness, which can be dispelled with the right chants or prayers; or that a hurricane can be turned away if only enough people have faith in some unseen deity in the sky; or that particular individuals--called pastors, priests, rabbis, ministers, popes, apostles, etc.--have a closer relationship to the big deity in the sky than ordinary people and can therefore pursuade the deity to give the people protection...for a price, of course. Will the human race ever mature beyond such childishness?

Man tries to put God in a thimble.God is not confined to time He is and always will be from Everlasting to Everlasting.Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
God is God and does what he wants to do.
You can only experience God through Faith.Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
It doesn't matter if you believe or not God is still God and will have to be
experienced at The Great White Throne Judgment.Man has no excuse
Psa 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
You can look at nature and you know that there is a God.
You can know God by studying Jesus Christ he was a mirror of god
and his Love for mankind just look at Calvary he LOVES YOU THAT MUCH! Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
It is your chance trust God and receive Jesus as Lord and experience
God personally his Love,Security,Hope and power to live a real life the
way it is suppose to be lived.
In Christ in Love,

People do not, and they will never know God! People of faith are betting their lives on the flimsy-at-best chance that there is a God, and meanwhile are berating and killing others because they don't have the same beliefs! God is such an outdated concept, and yet people want so badly to have ANY kind of meaning in some fantasy world that supposedly exists outside of this one, and they waste the time that COULD BE so better utilized by cherishing the world that they DO KNOW ABOUT!!!! The Christian God is, of course based on the Bible, but there still are so many others, that it boggles the mind! Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, ALL saying that their faith is correct, thereby making everyone ELSE'S wrong!! At least the faiths have dwindled a bit--long before Jesus, we had gods for EVERYTHING IN NATURE, because we did not understand it!!! And now that we understand to some extent, we still grasp firmly to a god concept, because we can't seem to make our lives rich enough WITHOUT ONE!!! It really makes me wonder: what, if anything have we learned in our short time on this planet, and do we stand to learn ANYTHING if we believe and trust in something that we can't even wrap our heads around??! And people STILL drone on and on and on and on about God, a god, a supreme being, an "intelligent designer"??!!!! If this is the best that God can do, I certainly am not impressed (as George Carlin says!). Anyone who supposedly creates something with all the faults that have befallen this species cannot even PRETEND TO BE INTELLIGENT, LET ALONE LOVE HIS CREATION!!! A BENEVOLENT God??! What a LOAD!! MALEVOLENT, and SADISTIC, if He DOES exist!!!!
YES, THERE IS an answer to how it all got started!! But can't we think outside the box long enough to see that, unless we work here on WHAT WE DO KNOW, things WILL NEVER BE RIGHT for the things that we simply PRETEND TO KNOW!!!
P.S. I've seen your questions before, Samantha, and I've gotta say it's refreshing to see REAL questions, GOOD questions, and not the drivel that is usually vomited on this forum!

there are different versions of the same story ,there is the manipulative document called the bible and there is an outside opinion.
this is the alternative vieuw
christianity was suposedly started by
an Annunaki, who was known as the Creator ,and who colonized this planet 300.000 years ago with a slave race that he created ,by genetic engeneering and cloning
,to mine gold for him.
this was the Adam race ,the story that became a religion was to, give these people roots and a purpose and ultimately to control them .
the Creator s descendants to this day mantain control over the people of this planet and are know as the Illuminati
.these illuminati have fed the myth over the centuries and have done everything to prevent the truth from emerging
this Anunnaki was hardly a God and neither were his Illuminati, Angels ,
they can be found all through history ,especially if there is gold around,
and they have systematically killed most of the indigenous peoples ,who were out of range of the media and propagandas ,and so beyond their mind control programs
and also to get their gold and territories..
all ancient civilisations have been famous for their gold ,where is it all now.only a little is in fort knox or the bank of England ,just a fraction of what has been mined in total on this planet.
these brainwashings include to disbelieve ,the things i have just said ,and only people outside of this mass media s influence can begin to apreciate these alternative concepts.
and it is sad and blasphemous that so many people have betrayed the Real Gods of this planet,
Although they have superimposed and based a lot of their invasive imaginary religion on the concepts of Baal and slandered the humanized representations of the character of Gaia ,
these are both Gods that can be seen everyday in all of their splendor and majesty.
Gaia .the world we live on ,from which all of life stems .
the Mother of all creations and the supplier of all what is needed to sustain these.
powered by the might of the Suns life-giving rays.
it has recently been discovered that sun spot activity is directly related to mayor Human events suggesting the depth of this Gods influence over Humanity.
how much more Godly or real can it get ,

experience without understanding.
when kids say, "where do babies come from?" people still say, "the stork". We talk about the tooth fairy and santa claus, and say the sun rises and sets but the earth is actually the thing doing the moving.
When you get an understanding of how things work, you give explanations closer to the truth.
A veeeeeeeeeeeery long time ago, a little cave-kid asked a cave-dad where thunder and lightning came from, and cave-Dad said, "Big man in sky make noise." Different cultures have been coming up with beautiful variations of that story ever since.
By the way, I do believe in God. I just believe *It* is a little more than a big man in the sky.

It's human nature to believe in a higher power. Even cave art shows shamans and spells and such. We seek out answers to what we don't understand, and it wasn't until the Renaissance that people started turning to fact instead of story.
So, the answer to your question is no one knows. Believing in several gods has been around for thousands of years. Christianity has been around for over 2000. Islam for 1500 or so. Those are the major ones today.
Anyone who gives you an answer as if they know exactly what religion is accurate and when it began is full of it!

God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are one
1John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one.

well God has been around forever so it couldn't have "started" well the reason people believe in God today is because of the Bible and i really dont know when the Bible started, but we can all learn about him if you read it. maybe you should read it.

The Bible tells us, and it's also been passed down through word of mouth, and when people learn about him and accept him into their lives, they can feel him working in their lives. It's really cool
