Helping Hand Allocation of funds

First of all, if you really want to help people with your money, DO NOT GIVE IT TO ANY CHARITABLE OR GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION WHATSOEVER. These institutions are nothing more than huge tax shelters that are run by greedy babyboomers and wannabe politicians. Use the money in a way that would actually HELP people. Giving your money to the Government is about the equivilent of flushing it down your toilet or tossing it out of a window....you choose the cliche'. Make damn sure that you are the one who is actually making the purchases. Examples on how to help people:
1. Purchase a home for a family.
2. Invest it in a local/small business.
3. Sponsor a high school baseball team.(New uniforms, etc.)
4. Purchase a car for someone.
5. Repair someones credit.(Preferably not a deadbeat, more like someone who has lost their job or something along those lines)
6. Donate some $$$ to a city rescue mission.
7. Buy groceries for a family.
8. Help a local garage band with equipment/recording cost..etc.
9. Purchase new computers/books/desks/whatever for a school.
10. Give some $$$ to a Church that has a well known reputation for charity.(Regardless of your Dogmatic beliefs a lot of local churches are masterminds at charity events.)

What I have listed above are not exact options that I'm giving you, simply examples on the kinds of things that would really make a difference in a persons/families/whatever life. In the event that you actually have 18M, I would advise against giving any charitable/Government organizations a dime. I hate to beat a dead horse, but its the truth. When it comes to money, you should view the Government as The Anti-Christ/Devil/Hitler/Murderer / Rapist /Random thing that you hate. Simply put, make sure you alone are in charge of the allocation of funds. Hot damn.

I would first invest it in housing and property. From there maybe you could build after shool centers, shelters, and get involved in charity work but do not give them all your money. I think you should really go and talk to the unfortunate and ask what it is they need most. I know I always told myself if I won the lottery I would build a children's shelter because regardless if the parent is punished or not for not taking care of their child the way they should, they are still lacking love and affection that they can get in a shelter with people who will care for them until their parents get better. I also think getting involved in creating housing for families is a good way to start too. Robert Redford started a program and way of making new housing for native americans using straw and mud and other cheap materials so they could have housing. The housing is cost effective for electricity bills because the materials they use conserve more energy.

Liar, you did not win any money, and if you did you know you wouldn't be helping no one but yourself. Just ask the real question "If you won 18 million dollars, how would you use it to help people?"

Get a lawyer. And an accountant. **Fast.** Before you pick up the winnings.

Then, start a foundation based on some cause that you are passionate about. (Kids, animals, environment, elderly)

Then, tell us about it through a PR agency, because I'm a grantwriter and I love to get money for people.

And do it all as discreetly as possible, so your life will not be a nightmare.

man I'd love to win that, it would be fun. I would do random acts of kindness. The old person in the grocery store with a cart of dented cans, day old foods, I'd go to the manager and have them tell that person they won a #1 millionth customer contest or something and give them a store gift certificate for $1,000 or something. I'd donate to the homeless shelters, animal shelters and organizations that help both causes as well as to cancer organizations. You could do so many neat things with that money to help people. Set up a health fund and let people apply to use some of it for different things. I'm involved with Lymphedema, we're a minority of people, on disability most of us, and we have severe hardships in getting supplies and therapy because medicare just plain sucks. I'd set up funds for those kind of people to get treatment. It would just be so rewarding to see the looks on their faces after they got money for treatment or a coupon to use for free treatments.

After taking care of yourself, family, and friends, you could donate gift certificates to food stores and restaurants to the Community Food Bank. You could make a large contribution to your place of worship (if applicable), or to a homeless shelter.

You could get small McDonald's (etc). gift certificates and give them to homeless people in your city, possibly donate your old clothes to them (since you will probably be getting new ones).
You could actually adopt a homeless family for a week (or month) and put them up in a motel on the weekly or monthly rate.
There's so much you could do to help people--right in your own community--also, you could give someone a few college courses or training courses.

Well...If I won 18 million dollars, I would invest some of it and try to triple my winnings; I would also donate to breast cancer research (specifically, the Susan G. Komen foundation); I'd buy a nice condo in NYC; and I'd work part-time instead of full-time (I'd work cuz I like to, not cuz I have to)....oh, and of course I'd help out my family and friends!
